    Don't use XP home.
    Its a nightmare supposedly.

I thought you had to have 2 cpu's to use a dual board but i could be wrong.

    Whats the shipping like?

That mother board and CPU came as package together I can get a different package if needed for that.

The postage doesnt seem to expensive most parts included postage at $4 extra to the original postage (between $4-10) per item so I guess to round it off add $100

While the price is ok for this package you will need two processors that are exactly the same in a dual processor system and I would question why you would want dual processing power in any case?
SMP(Symettric Multi Processing- multiple processors) is not something that will make a difference really unless you are utilising software that is programmed to use it. The Geforce3 card would suggest to me that this is to be a games pc, if I were you I would drop the dual motherboard and look for a good stable motherboard to hold an XP processor and beef the graphics card up to a radeon 8500 or a geforce4. But then if you are a graphics professional (photoshop uses SMP) or a video editor or hoping to run a server (which is unlikely considering the gaming card) I would not advise a multi processor machine.
On a pc that is not equipped with software to correctly take advantage of this feature of multiple processors you will not see a pc that is anywhere near "twice" as fast as one processor as you may think would be the case.
Windows XP home is a great OS for non-technical users and has the basic same kernel as the professional version but I would not use it personally as I find it too restrictive technically being a power user and using Windows 2000 and XP professional at work.
I work as a tech support specialist and have two MCP(Microsoft Certified Professional) qualifications and have a lot of experience with a lot of soft and hardware so take my opinion whatever way you wish and enjoy the pc.
If you want any more advice then post a reply.

    Get a better graphics card

Actually, I have a bank of Dell Intel Xeon based Dual and Quad Processing machines here in work. I am typing this mail on a Dual processor capable Dell Poweredge 6450 containing just one processor, there are several machines in here based on dual processor motherboards containing one processor only for now (we bought them like that so they'd be upgradeable in the future).

Ps I have 9 MCP's, and I still don't know if the Athlon MP can be run in single processor configuration like it's intel relative.

Yeah the mp works fine in single processor mode, its just an xp which has been certified for mp operation, and has one bridge different from the xp ( L5 I think ). Theres a thread or 2 about modding an xp to be recognised as an mp on this board.

win XP home can't take advantage of dual processors no matter what, XP Pro can.

If you have the money, it's "safer" getting an MP rather than an XP, and the difference isn't exactly huge, like it is between a p4 and a p4-xeon

I just picked winXP because it was the cheapest :)

I'll probably go with Win2k , I run web server off my machine but only for dev purposes

I play games but nothing realyl to hard on the graphics mainly because I dont have the cash for games :)

Everyone seems to be making a deal about the mb, it was part of a combo deal and I can easily swap that deal and get a different mobo cpu, its just im not to sure what is compatable with what

you will be raped for shipping, and as someone else said, you would really want a better graphics card. Btw, go to www.komplett.ie they have an ownage offer atm on a kit pc.

What was the point of dragging up a three year old thread to say that?
