Just wondering, bar the weather and economic climate. How is your summer going? Mine is getting better every day!

    mine's pretty crap
i'm bored, and I'm too lazy to look for a job so that I have money to buy al the things i want

I can't complain financially. But most of my friends are away from home this summer. I only have one good mate, but he's working all the time in a new permanent job. To put it bluntly I would consider myself lucky to go out drinking once every 3 weeks. We have a boards.ie drinking session coming up this Thursday, and I've a 21st to go to in Westport next week, so that's pretty much the most exciting list of events on my calendar.

I just seem to be reading constantly by myself (which I don't always think is a good idea, the isolation that is). There are times when I wouldnt' leave the house for 2-3 days at a time. But then again I don't really have any need to. Everytime I leave the house I end up spending money on non essential items. I spent €50 on books the other day, but that's different, I like books, and they last. "Hitchhikers Guide to The Galaxy" (the 4 parts in one, edition), and a book on Shell Programming (for those of you who are interested).

Anyway to sum it up, it's not the best Summer I've had in a while, but then again I predicted that it would be like this, a few months back. Right now I'm sorry I didn't go to America with one of my mates, but then again, he's stuck on a construction site in the middle of Chicago, and he says he hates it. But he's making a packet, yet getting to see feck all with his slave job, in the immense heat of the city during the summer.

ScottB, I'm beginning to think you've scored or something. Let us in on your secret perk ;)

I dunno, my summer's been pretty good so far. Ozzfest was probably the highlight so far, with RHCP in a very close second. I've got a couple more things to look forward to (end of this month and September), but nothing planned for August. Actually, that's not a bad thing - I need cash for the September thing :)

That said, the last 18 months have been well cool for me, but that's another story :)

Same here, I'm working for just July but it's not too bad. Tbh doing the Junior Cert kinda ruins the whole month of June.

Add that with the loss of July due to work, I just have August left, which isn't so bad really, I'll be loaded and I'm off to Spain with a friend. :)

Well mines not so bad , cant afford a holiday this year but although the weather hasn't been great I've still been travelling around our little country and having a class time , if the weather improves a few days on a beech somewhere might be in order!

I've been having a pretty fun summer apart from the working 6 days a week part. And the fact half my mates have decided to go travelling ( I sincerely hope it's not the smell of my feet...)

Yeah, I'm having a good summer. My new job and business is going really well, which is nice; the weather has been fine by my standards, domestic harmony reigns in the house, and this weekend is stacking up to be a lot of fun - gig in London friday night, then the Live On Brighton Beach lark on Saturday night... woo :)

I'm having a brilliant summer, I'm taking it easy only working about 30 hours a week and I've still got loads of free time to do whatever I want. It beats studying and being broke all the time.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,219 ✭✭✭plastic membrane

I'm having a good one. June was a haze, with the world cup and everything, and i just became a godfather. Witness is this weekend (should the rain feck off for a few days it should be a blast), and after that im on holidays from work for two weeks, so its drinkies and plenty of 'em. Im reading plenty of good books, and im rewatching old Buffy tapes. The only problem being the weather, worse than watching a Pauly Shore movie marathon whilst being tied down to a chair.

Summer ? What's that ? :) The only reason I know it's the summer is because it only takes me no more than 30 minutes to get to work. God bless the lazy students and teachers.

Nice 2 weeks off in August. First bit of time off since September last year so at least its something to look forward to. Up to Donegal for a week to abuse my liver and lungs. Bum around for the second week.

Down to Limerick on Saturday for a nights drinking. It's been a while since I've gotten drunk in a different county. Only hope I don't get stabbed :P

/me rejoices at Tactical Anni's leaving the country!!

Means I'll get all the day shifts he does in the net cafe, which means more moneys for me, which means more drinking, yeay! Thanks Duncan :D

My summer hasnt been anything spectacular, but tbh, anything besides the leaving cert is a huge welcome. Went to Kerry after "the end of year quiz" with 13 others, including flamegrill, and had a great time.
Other than that, went to RHCP concert, spending time with the other half, doing a few shifts, seeing friends, reading etc. If the weather picked up, this summer could turn out to be a pretty pleasant one for me

    /me does a sundance . . . .

Despite the weather, my summer has been very interesting. I'm not sure whether its been good or not, especially for some of my friends, but I've been kept busy. I'd say more interesting things will pop up later on also.

have to say my summer is going great.
had a good start a training week away with 80 other soon to be 6th years, a few young group leaders- and no teachers either, so that was fun. a great 2 day hike, the sun shone:eek: ! work was pretty good this year, jus not enough time to earn money! i'd a cool holiday, one week in france, i went to witnness(definite highlight of my summer-the sun didn't jus shine, it was warm) and now i got a few days on an army run survival course. overall my summer=excellent.
