    JediKnightII.net gave the 'Net a heads up to the MOD work being done by the folks of Style Over Substance late last night. SOS's mod is designed to put a little flavor into Jedi Knight II saber dueling instead of the common hack, slash, and run sparring that plagues every multiplayer game.

    Here's a list of items in the works:

    * Cartwheel, Arial, and Butterfly animations activated
    * Dismemberment on by default
    * Cinematic deaths
    * Walk with style as you stalk your foe
    * Cinematic camera as you show off certain moves
    * Wall Hanging ability to save you from those nasty bottomless pits and to reach hard to get to places for the ultimate duel setting
    * Force Safe Fall allows you to fall large heights without taking damage
    * Force Foresight enables you to see your opponent's moves and react faster than the eye
    * Knock your opponents saber from their hand or out of mid-air
    * Strike a stylish winning pose after defeating an opponent
    * Gameplay tweaks to the saber fighting system
    * Wall Walk while jumping up for a quick scenery change or more advantageous footing
    * New saber attacks as well as a new twist on some old ones

    Now if you ask me, that's one hell of a mod being developed, and it's also going to be a nice change of pace. Hopefully some of the larger multiplayer servers will adopt it, if not some of us will have to resort to setting up our own matches.

    Get more details, and check out two fantastic demo videos in DIVX format by heading on over to StyleOverSubstance.net.

    The mod looks very good indeed- what plagues me about JK2 multiplayer is the consummate ease with which guns beat saber. JK1 may be an older game, but none of the guns stands up to a good force-kicking with a saber. Most of the additions are good- Force Foresight looks a tad dodgy, but I'll pass judgement when I've seen it. What's impressed me is the manner in which JK2 presented a menu option for mods before any had been made. Mods are a great thing, but as an attitudinal release to kick-start their making, that was a good idea.

    I've never posted here before and i'm not a StarWars fan but yes this game is good and well worth it if you playonline or at lan's.
    I found it too repetative in the single player and got bored.

    Ehh?

    The saber in JK1 didn't even repel most blaster type weapon blasts, (you had to be facing straight at the attacker and even still you could get hit quite often) and was totally useless against the Concussion Rifle or the Rocket Launcher. In JK2 the saber deflects nearly all blasts from repeaters, blasters, and has a wide arc of defence. The force powers in JK2 allow you to defend from pretty much every weapon, whereas in JK1 the force powers weren't much more than an after thought.

    Force Foresight looks a tad dodgy

    all it does is speed up your blocks, its a way to counter the fast saber style.

    I didn't state it too clearly kaids, but in JK1 you could just rip the guns out of other players' hands. Accuracy was p1ss-poor from range anyhow, especially with force-jump etc, JK2 maps are either corridor gun-battles or force-push battles, seeing who can score the most kills by pushing ppl to their deaths sort of thing. It's fun, but gets boring after a while.

    Cheers for the info btw jag :)

    JK2 single player you are friggin sweeeeet at deflecting shots. Multiplayer? You're ****, basically. With the latest patch saber on saber duels are a bit more like they are in the single player, but how are you going to beat someone with a saber, when they're rocket launching/sniping you from a distance?

    I like JK2, I think it's fun, but overall, the multiplayer needs a few improvements.
