not sure about xp, but try going to start, settings, control panel, add/remove programs.. add/remove windows components... look for theme's and have your XP cd handy

Why use that theme, them windows themes are discusting. I advise u to download StyleXP from www.tgtsoft.com and install it, it is a trial. Right once u select ur theme, and there is some nice ones, radium is my personal favorite, disable style xp from starting up. Start->Run - type msconfig. press enter. click the start up tab that is on the dialog and unselect StyleXP. Right now you must download the UXTHEME.ZIP package. http://www.tgtsoft.com/downloads/UxThemePatcher.zip . This package overwrites the windows uxtheme.dll file and enables extra themes to be in there also. A lot nicer ones!

    Good LUck

No need to install Style XP. If you install the UXTheme patch, installing Style XP is unnecessary (actually it's annoying it being a trial and all). You may have to agree to some security warnings if you replace uxtheme.dll. No need to worry, but WinXP Pro will recognise it as different to the file that came on the CD.

Some nice visual styles at www.themexp.org. Saves you having to get creative yourself.

There are some nice Luna themes there if you like the Luna styles that came with XP (I wouldn't say they were "disgusting", just lacking much style wrt colour). Should still be a toothpaste style available on tgtsoft or themexp - quite nice for pastel shades. I quite like the Aqua themes myself but if I'd wanted that look, I could have bought myself a nice Mac.

OF the original MS files btw, the Luna.theme file is only 2k but the files associated with it (including the Luns.msstyles file) come to 5megs.

There's no entry for the themes in the Windows Components in Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel btw so that seems like a non-starter.

The instructions that TGTSoft supply are incomplete for a start.

Try grabbing a different DLL at
    http://files.netjunk.org/THEME.PROGRAMS/UxTheme-DLL%20FIXED.zip

Or just follow the instructions carefully (and adapt if your directories are different) at
