I've just finished reading all these and recommend them:

Great Gatsby and Tender Is The Night - F.Scott Fitzgerald
Adrian Mole, The Cappuccino Years - Sue Townsend
The Diary Of A Nobody - George & Weedon Grossmith

Got them cheap in hodges figgis sale.

What's on the leaving cert syllabus these days?

The wheel of time series by Robert Jordan is good. there's ten books in all so far i think.
    It's very good.
