    Hi There

I have to write my first reference. Just wondering if you have any tips or sample layouts. I hate doing this kind of thing and don't know where to begin.

    All help welcome!

    tell the truth.
leave out any negative things, you will get sued otherwise.
put in things like timekeeping, relationships with collegues, hopusekeeping, personal appearance, dedication, your personal relationship with person, their position, stuff like that.

just centre on the good things. if you have something bad to say about someone leave it out, the lack of remark on a subject will also speak volumes, so do try to give as much good stuff in an all round good reference.
oh, and dates of working, month to month is fine. ie jan 2000 to may 2002
