    I first noticed this when a customer came in and wanted to set up an email account. I let him work away with, pretty straight forward, or so I thought!

    Filled in his personal details and was immediately sent to the billing information page, I assumed he had inadvertently ticked a box or something so I went through it with him again. And again up came billing information.

    Eventually I notice that down at the bottom of the page is a link to the free account, but it’s so obscured with pointless crap about the service that a novice user would quite easily miss it.

    I found it a bit strange and worth a mini rant :)

    my point is, they as you have just stated are renouned for being an international known free email service, but now they've changed their mind?

    i mean they provide a good free service for the last ages so what if they are offering or encouraging their members to use a paid for service, tis kinda the way of the net and the viability of a company/service even if it is microsoft. Sure yahoo do it too, everyone does, only makes sense to.

    Even if they do get rid of their free service so what? it was good while it lasted etc' I don't think its something to be bitchin over thats all, specially when ya get it for nothing.

    this is the game they are playing at now, tell me if it's happened to you.
    I checked my mail saturday and no new mail, sunday I had 684 emails in the junk mail part and a special mail from "hotmail" in my inbox that says: since your storage is full please click below to pay for extra storage!

    they are filling up your storgae space in hopes that you will pay for the extra stoarge space account they offer...
    I quicly emptied the whole file and continue to keep my reg storage limit at a low for my free email service ;)

    Yeh this kind of 'encouraging' is done by pretty much everyone now... but erm does that make it completely ok?

    Fileplanet, used to be the place to go for the latest game patches and demos. Then they had a wonderful idea of introducing 'Personal servers' whereby you can supposedly download at any time and at higher speeds - for a not insignificant amount of hard-earned money.
    But you can still download for free right? erm no... utterly coincidentally, with absolutely no bearing at all on the introduction of a fee-paying service, Fileplanet becomes utterly sh!t for downloading. A queuing system goes up for our convenience (officially the lie of the year) and as a result we get to wait several hours before our downloads start. Then again you could always pay for the "personal server"... did these guys go to the Cosa Nostra school of business?

    Then there's Microsoft... o where to begin... lets be honest if there was any kind of justice Microsoft would have been shut down long ago, and they probably would have been if the US had found another way to stay at the top of the computer industry. Take Hotmail, I'm hardly computer illiterate but last time I wanted to open a new account I actually couldn't work out how to do it. I found out in the end but wasn't ready to put up with any more of Bill's sh!t so I got a netshop.ie account instead. With netshop I haven't received a single slice of spam; with Hotmail it was around 100 emails a day. Now I can send and receive emails fine; Hotmail made Internet Explorer crash every time I tried to send.

    In summary, Microsoft Hotmail can be visualised thus;

    Microsoft = ugly rabid pitbull.
    Microsoft products = what comes out of the pitbull's ass.
    Microsoft Hotmail = a particularly rancid lump of pitbull sh!t thats been left out in the middle of the park passing diseases to unsuspecting kids...

    Oh and Grimes.... "Why is hot mail bad?"... eheheheh.... :p

    Sorry, but if hotmail cant generate advertising revenues from the 50 gazillion users that login every day, then truly the internet is over :(

    yes the service is going to be availlable for another week, i believe on the 16th they withdraw that pop service, which was the only reason i was with them, but i found another pritty cool site for that, Try here for POP Mail here you can log on and set up all your pop accounts as you did on hotmail. the only difference being you have to do it seperatly not get all accounts at once. but a nice site none the less.
