If you paid for something and never got it you can get at least part of your money back from ebay, also it is a legal contract, to break it in that manner is fraud and should be reported to the police. Seeing as the British government are so keen on internet snooping they have no excuse not to follow up on internet crime.

You would want to be carefull when on e-bay or qxl
Only buy after reading good reviews from other customers of that seller.
Also I think they only insure the sale, if the seller has a few sales successfully completed.
I would completely avoid first time sellers, if it involves a lot of money as that transaction is not insured.
Also if such fraud is reported the seller will be banned, but could re-appear under a new e-mail address etc

Yup, agree with Madman. I bought a few things from Ebay with no real problems at all. Spent quite a bit actually. Stay well away from anyone with a dodgy amount of negative comments in feedback or a new seller if it involves a lot of money. Made a mistake once when i bought a graphics card from someone with a fair bit of negative comments (thinking with wallet rather than head), they were slow to ship and would not reply to any mails to say if it had been shipped or to give tracking numbers etc. Lucky enough I was paying through www.tradenable.com so i was able to cancel the payment.

Card arrived a couple of days later, just refused to accept it and it was returned to sender with no charge.
