New MTV2 interactive feature

    Since it's beginning mtv2 has taken pride in the fact that it shows NO ads.

    Last week, I was shocked to see an ad for Orange on mtv2. But they now have a cool feature where you press the red button just before an ad-break and you can play pong against the digibox during the ads, which still run in the background.

    I think that this is one of the most inventive uses of interactive TV I've seen. It certainly keeps me from switching when the ads come on.

    This is also available on MTV Base but you have to wait for the right time i think-the red icon only appears for a few seconds as the ads start.Not sure if its on the other MTV channels but who cares-nobody over 8 with any musical taste watches them anyway.

    MTV2 has only started showing ads a few months back

    i played Pong on the main MTV last night. i sat through 15 minutes of The Lick to see what it was like and i think it's a brilliant idea

    Up until a few weeks ago, the only "ads" mtv2 showed were either advertising an MTV event (5 Night Stand for example), or were advertising HIV awareness or something - ie, no corporate advertising.

    Isn't it brilliant! Not only do you sit through the ads but if ya want to continue your score when ads are over, you've to watch the programme whilst you wait for another adbreak. The game pauses when ads are over. And of course, if ya change channel, you lose your score forcing you to stay to improve! It's on all the MTV channels.

    Very original. But I guess it will only last until Wimbledon finishes.
