Got hooked up today , the software is reporting 1mb connect, but speed tests are in line with the 512 expectations, or is this speed just bad 1mb connect?

Downloads with several tests average in the late 200's, uploads..90 ish

kdja you obviously have the usb modem also, the 4mb speed is the speed your pc is talking to the modem (ie usb speed), not the speed the modem is necessarily talking to the local exchange.

Mine says the same as no doubt most others do also.

TBH these download tests are imho pretty crap in terms of accuracy, they are quick fixes with a huge margin of error.

More realistic i feel is a sustained download speed over maybe 10-20 mins, in this case getright reports a steady 50KB+ speed..which is pretty good imho.

Ping times to irish servers are pretty respectible also..have done about 20 or thirty pings..all in the 60 ~ 90 range, which aint half bad, so overall..have to say its pretty good so far and damn the temptation to download the whole internet is driving me crazy....damn these caps..have a feeling my next bill is going to be ugly :)

    Im with that.
Best ping so far was 45 on Blueyonder MOHAA server.
Havent got all the patches and stuff to play HL/CS/unreal on Irish servers.
And there is an Irish RTCW server i cant wait to install it and play on.
