Hmm...4-4-2. Here they are with reasons given:

GK- Ollie Kahn(GER) --- Best keeper of the tournament by far

LB- Ashley Cole(ENG) --- Carlos is a left-winger who defends some of the time, and Maldini is past his prime, proved by him being outjumped several times by Ahn in the Korea game, including the golden goal.

CB - Rio Ferdinand(ENG) --- Fantastic peformances, Man U would do well to break the bank on him.

CB - Carsten Ramelow(GER) --- One of the best players on the park for Germany, surging runs forward worthy of the no. 5 shirt

RB - Cafu[C] (BRA) --- Arguably the best player of the tournament for me, never stops running, always in charge, dictates the pace of the game superbly, and always gets back to do his defensive duties. Gets my vote, and the armband.

LM - Rivaldo[BRA] --- He may be a cheating bish who falls over when an inflated bladder slaps him on the thigh...but he's probably the most gifted left-sided player in the world by far. Not a classic winger, the midfield is very much a fluid one :P

DM - Nicky Butt[ENG] --- Average for Man U, super for England this time.

AM - Ronaldhino [BRA] --- If he can avoid blind referees and the army of orthrodentist-wielding PR people, he's an automatic choice.

RM - Joaquin- [SPA] --- The best young player of the tournament- had that linesman had his glasses on, that cross + goal would have given Joaquin better treatment than a penalty miss at this world cup.

ST - Ronaldo[BRA] --- Rediscovered his form, can make defenses seem as open as that gap between his incisors

ST - Raul [SPA] --- A classic foil player, unlucky not to get a chance to show us everything this time around.

I think that team's as good as any- in an ideal world I'd play 3-4-3 though :P

    Occy

With a bit more thought (and a few more games watched) i'd change my best 11 to:

    .........................Vieri (ITA) Ronaldo (BRA)

    ..................................Rivaldo (BRA)

....Duff (IRE) Ballack (GER) Hamann (GER) Ronaldinho (BRA)

..........Ferdinand (ENG) Ramelow (GER) Cafu (BRA)

    ..................................Kahn (GER)

Essentially a 3-4-1-2 formation (could be considered 3-5-2 or 3-4-3 aswell). I know Cafu is out of position there as a third centre back, but i couldn't find any other way of squeezing all the players i wanted into the 11 :)

    Subs:
    GK: Rustu (TUR)
    DF: Cannavaro (ITA)
    MF: Sas (TUR)
    MF: Butt (ENG)
    FW: Raul (SPA)

Was going to put in Rommedahl (DEN) but decided against him. Aww :)
