I'm looking for a *n*x version atm.

If you can host a server sometime in ireland, even for just a week, to give us a chance to see how it performs over different connections.
Afaik, it doesn't require a whole lot of resources.
you don't need a copy of the game itself.
D/ling it now myself, will know more soon.
Runs over port 2302, UDP and TCP in out afaik.

I just re-checked it, you do need the game installed (doesn't have to be an origional retail copy afaik, CD Keys don't matter), and that means no loonix version yet
I know tis a biatch, there' d be 10 times as many servers if ther was.
Just gotta keep pestering BIS I guess....

Whats the download amount for a server?
I could host on DSL as a test but what enters my machine with the cap would be a worry.
OP flash has great Netcode so imagine at least 8 56k in ireland could play decent enough.
I ahve full retail Gold edition ,havent installed it in a while.
So anyone know what i would be dlaoding?

EDIT btw i work nights so would leave server up for a few days each time.

It didn't have great netocde until very recently, ran like a dog ont he net as a matter of fact, unless you have amassive conn and were unfirewwalled.
It was tying to use some ghey DirectX methiod and was taking up a range of 100 ports or soemthing.
They've narrowed it down to one main port and a listen port or something on UDP.
You need an install of the game, up to 1.46, and the server file up there.

I'm onlyu on 28.8k max, but if the serr is loca, I could give it a shot

It'll be getting a good thrashing at GL3 on friday anywyays

i was thinking of setting one up on my sisters machine but due to some bad nat on my part her comp is invisible outside of our network. and my comp aint pwerful enough to host the server. oh well.

to be brutally honest, I've not had much experience with running or adminning servers outside oif a Hl/CS dedicated at lans etc.
I'll see about slapping together a small config file.
The only thing about the server is you have to be running windows with DirectX8.1 and have the game installed and up to 1.46 with the 1.6 dedicated server (it kind of hangs off the side at the moment - will be updated I'm sure).

Do you ahve a static IP merc?

I have looked into this as i do intend to test out this DSL as a host machine.

I will be hosting from sunday week for 4 days every week on a 1000 /384 ram machine with Solo DSL.
Dynamic IP so i will post IP here every week.
I have tested my machine as a MOHAA dedicated server and there wasnt much downloading involved (so me happy)
i ration 100mb a day i will be in work for those 4 days so it works out even.
Who wants Admin powers i nominate Syspak cos hes the MOD ...hehehehhehe

somehow my connection went up to 33.6 bps tonight with a Rockwell HCF moem on my DACS line.
Don't know how accurate that is or if it's just STAC compression, but seems good
