Have noticed that RTE have had a little but of an overhaul.
    (1) Their website is now more or less identical to BBC.co.uk. I know they have copied the BBC in the past.... but this is ridiculous.
    (2) RTE News now has a new solid bug......it's far too big and solid.....looks hideous.....
    Come on RTE......

I find their website to be an improvement. As for copying BBC, its a step in right direction IMO. As for RTE News, haven't noticed the changed DOG yet tho I seldom watch it. Sky News Active suits me better! :)

Its' about time for the RTE Interactive brand to be rolled out on the front page of rte.ie, most of the site had been using it for quite a while, the use of the old "RTE Online" brand on the front page was an anarchonism and did not fit in with the rest of the site. Sidebars have also gone out of fashion in www design (who remembers' ICDG's sidebar!) and it was about time RTE dropped it.

As for the RTE News semi-new look...the DOG is awful, but I like the new astons and their animation. Small too...Sky News could learn a thing or two from them.

agreed with all of that. the DOG in the bottom corner is terrible. it was a whole lot better looking with the old one. you are spot on about Sky News. i've been watching it a lot less since they put on those new graphics

Yes like the new style RTE website, while it look quite like the bbc Web site it is less cluttered.

Also the design change in relation to each of the sections and they all look pretty impressive. All they need now is a seprate Website for N2 and RTE1.

Yes the dog on the news is awful.

Is it just me but when any of the news programmes change something good about the look of the news service they just go an ruin it by adding some thing tacky.

For example TV3 set is terrible at the moment while their graphic are excelent, yet last year the set was fine and the graphic where terrible. All the liberty hall picture on Ireland AM they need the think about what building they use in backgrounds like maybe the Customes house.

TG4 are the best looking news service on the TV at the moment.
N2 needs a set. And what do you think of the Green, Red, and yellow logos on N2?

Watched RTE News yesterday and saw the new DOG. It's terrible. Looks like a website button!

I agree Elmo, TG4 news looks best. Pity I'm not fluent in the native language (mind you, I'm better than most I know)

Not a fan of the new N2 idents...thought they might grow on me, but they are no way as good as what came before, which were one of the most unusual - and best - sets of idents seen on terrestrial TV in a while. These ones are just plain ordinary and don't really work.

Mind you, the old ones were there five years, so a change was needed...but not ot this.

I like the start and end parts during the shows something simple for n2 was need there.

Why they dont use the graphical animation with the boy and girl chasing after the n2 logo, it looked like a computer game, the only used it once as far as I know in full, It was usually use for their promos.

    www.rte.ie/radio

got a nomination at the Webby awards

    www.webbyawards.com

    The winner was

    www.bbc.co.uk/radio4

The other nominations weren't half as good as RTE's why were they nominated there was nothing special about them.

I think it is due to content at these awards more then design becase i find The RTE site more appealing then the BBC one.

Cheak them out anyway a say what you have to say.
