Would anyone recommend any good ISDN adapters that work both in linux and FreeBSD?
I'll want them to able to support multilink so I can connect at 128bps.

    Your in luck mate :)

I just recently (as of day) installed a system into a company in dublin to provide them a dial-up isdn box that is a mail gate way for them. I used a card called "Mr. ISDN" sad really - winbond chipset. Similar to that of the Eicon Diva and the like and it works on linux since kernel version 2.2.12- we are at 2.4.18 now :)

heres a list of all known working cards/devices:

Teles 8.0/16.0/16.3 and compatible ones (like: Dr. Neuhaus Niccy 1016, Creatix 16/S0)
Teles 16.3c (can not be used as reversed card)
    Teles S0/PCMCIA (old hardware)
    Teles PCI
    Teles S0Box
    Creatix S0Box
    Creatix PnP S0
    Compaq ISDN S0 ISA card
AVM A1 (Fritz, Teledat 150 ISA)
    AVM Fritz PCMCIA
    AVM Fritz PnP
AVM Fritz PCI (Teledat 150 PCI)
    ELSA Microlink PCC-16, PCF, PCF-Pro, PCC-8
    ELSA Quickstep 1000
ELSA Quickstep 1000PCI (new name: ELSA Microlink PCI)
ELSA Quickstep 3000 (same settings as QS1000)
    ELSA Quickstep 3000PCI
    ELSA PCMCIA
ITK ix1-micro Rev.2 (also: ITK colombus card)
Eicon DIVA 2.0 ISA and PCI (S0 and U interface, no PRO version)
    Eicon DIVA Piccola
ASUSCOM NETWORK INC. ISDNLink 128K PC adapter (order code I-IN100-ST-D)
Dynalink IS64PH (OEM version of ASUSCOM NETWORK INC. ISDNLink 128K adapter)
All other ASUSCOM/Dynalink cards (includes OEM versions; in total more than 50 card versions)
PCBIT-DP (OEM version of ASUSCOM NETWORK INC. ISDNLink)
    HFC-2BS0 based cards (TeleInt SA1)
Sedlbauer Speed Card (Speed Win, Teledat 100, PCI, Fax+)
    Sedlbauer Speed Star/Speed Star2 (PCMCIA)
    Sedlbauer ISDN-Controller PC/104
USR Sportster internal TA (compatible Stollmann tina-pp V3)
ith Kommunikationstechnik GmbH MIC 16 ISA card
Traverse Technologie NETjet PCI S0 card
    Dr. Neuhaus Niccy PnP/PCI
    Siemens I-Surf 1.x (with ISAR =< try type 29)
Siemens I-Surf 2.x (with IPAC => try type 12 asuscom)
Trust PCI (only the old one with Siemens chip; the one called 'Wisecom' in NL does not work)
    ACER P10
    HSR Saphir
    Berkom Telekom A4T
    Scitel Quadro
    Gazel ISDN cards
    HFC-PCI based cards
    PCI/Winbond W6692 based cards

Anything from this list will work. I recomend isdn 4 linux aswell. You can get it here - ftp://ftp.isdn4linux.de/pub/isdn4linux/utils/

Most usefull and allows you to use 128k internet access.

    http://www.isdn4linux.de/faq/ <- good isdn resource.

I'll be doing a write up on it, as i found very little actual software support for the OS i used, which was Slackware 8.0

    Regards,

    Paul

Thanks very much for that reply man :) I have slackware 8.0. I don't mind using that. All the clients are debian woody. Atm we're using an external usb winbond based adapter in win2kpro. It's not to slow. I know it's strange to have the gateway in windows when the clients are linux! However I'm not bothered to setup a freebsd/linux based gateway unless it's going to be faster.
We also have a pci winbond chipset one but I can't remeber the chipset. I'll check later comparing to the one on ur list of cards to see if it's supported.
    Any thots?
