If you are registered as a sole trader... okay, can you bid and quote for work not in the 26 counties, like can you use it to do a web site for a company in Belfast ??? India, America etc etc.

    all advice appreciated.

Anyone can do business with anyone in the world, as long as you conform to local laws and regulations :)

I was setting up my own businnes a while ago -was a limtied company though. Basically you have to buy certain licenses to sell in different countries and to be a registered company in those countries. But with the internet that is changing a lot and as Steve said you always have to obey local laws, etc.
just ring up the government offices on sole traders and you will get what you need to know. Try looking at the Dept of Eneterprise website or something similar - maby even dept of foreign affairs.

As a piece of advice get a limited company and uses a friend or family as a silent partner. You can buy an off the shelf company for about €350 euros and then change the name of the company for a tenner. Its a lot safer in case things go wrong for you. Especially if you areo gonna try and deal internationally.
