For those of you who live on campus and have a PC in your dorm that connects to the 'net via DCU's pipe ... when you aren't actually logged onto a DCU computer but are using your own computer with their pipe, can you use the likes of Kazaa Lite and other P2P programs?

have a mate who was there during his second year (or third, not sure) but no, only the standard webpage ports are available and i think they got the msn messenger port opened too.

i was in his room in res once and we tried kazaa, doesnt work, ports blocked. maybe a port router might work, worth a try...

most ppl on res use httptunnel... depending on what subject you are doing though you may have access to one or two unix machines with external access.

the res has its own network with shareable directories etc. give it a few days and pretty much anything you need is already on it (movie-wise), same with music.

enjoy your stay... as long as your not in the old residence.. goddamn that place sucks (and regularly smells).

    [edit] cool 3333 posts :)
