    THE MOJO SESSIONS
    PRESENT
    ORPHEE
    Eamonn Dowd
    Kevin Barry

    In the Lower Deck
    Portobello Harbour
    On Thursday 27th June.
    Doors: 9 PM Adm: € 7 (€ 5 with flier)

ORPHEE are a four-piece band formed just over two years ago by French singer / songwriter Helene Borelli. The band have played headline gigs in Whelans and The Temple Bar Music Centre in Dublin, The Pine Lodge in Myrtleville and The Ninkasi in Lyon, France. They have also played support to Damien Dempsey, Shay Cotter and Pugwash. As well as performing, the band have been busy writing and recording and the fruits of their efforts can be heard on the E.P. “Dear” which was launched on May 17th last.

“More balls than Greenday with thumping guitars, bass and drums all driven by a passionate vocal. One must applaud Helene for not taking the road most travelled”
    Jackie Hayden (Hot Press)
“Orphee were most impressive on the longer, looser limbed songs where Helene’s emotional projection was in fullest effect. Her piercing shrieks turned a childhood tale “My Deepest Flavours” into a strangely disturbing epic” Fiona Reid (Hot Press).

Support on the night will be provided by Eamonn Dowd (Frontman with The Racketeers) who has just returned from playing a few dates in the U.S. and is embarking on a series of solo gigs to showcase some of his new material.

The night will be opened by Kevin Barry, a singer / songwriter whose powerful voice and thoughtful lyrics have finally begun to attract the kind of acclaim he deserves.
