We've gotten this far - how much further are Ireland going to go? are we going to meet Italy on Saturday week in the World Cup Quarter Final? - we have to get past Spain first.

Well .. this has been a world cup of firsts and if anything, making predictions has been VERy risky business.

But I think Ireland have a good chance against Spain, although it WILL be a tight match I think.

first 20 minutes, ireland will be cautious and seem to have more of the play.
for the rest of the half both teams will become more confident. spain will score on the break, ireland will miss a good chance from a break from midfield.
second half ireland will score a goal from midfield with 30 minutes left.
with 10 minutes to go ireland will pile on the pressure and spain will again score on the break.

Spain will score a couple against us, but I think well scramble something over the line as well with Duff in good form and Robbie Keane remembering what its like to put the ball in the back of the net again.

Clearly the Republic of Ireland being kinder and more benavolent of the two sparring countries in this instance will win hands down.

Anyone who has a problem with this can take themselves out of the country and never return.

I reckon Ireland will put us through the usual suffering going 1-0 down until close to the end when yet again we'll get an equaliser. After that I think it'll go to peno's and as much as I'd like to think it'll be our day I'm going for Spain to win the shoot-out.

Yep...We should be proud of them. They played a lot better than spain. but when it came to penaltys - we should have prepared more for them. But infernace 2 them, it was one hell of a game and in 4 years time we will show them!
