RTE/TV3 teletext on Sky

Can anyone out there explain why RTE/TV3 teletext is only very occasionally available on the Sky Digital platform?

Teletext is one of the more useful services RTE provide so it annoys me to have to access it via cable most of the time.

I can get teletext all the time. I have never had a problem with it.
What do you mean by unavailable.

If you lose the teletext I find a digibox reboot does the trick.

Actually im the other way around... i cant use teletext on RTE any more on cable.. breaks up and is garbled... its always perfect on sky though...

Does anyone know how this is happening? Teletext is sent as part of the picture so if the picture is coming through then you should see teletext. As far as I know even if the picture is encrypted the teletext is still available.

Perhaps it's a model specific problem. I have a Grundig GDS210 which suffers from the usual glitches, including this one. (eg. switching through many channels too quickly causes loss of now & next information/programme info/text)

Why you chose to ask on this thread is baffling.

Must be a box issue, I lost teletext on my main TV, but could still get it on my multiroom tv.

Did a box reset and got it back.

At first i thought it was my cables, spent ages undoing and redoing them!

Both my boxes are Pace, and the one in the front room is a Pace Sky plus.

Maybe its the Sky Plus Bugs that cause the problem?

About time RTE went Digital anyhow:D and TV3`s teletext is useless anyhow!

I emailed RTE about this a year or two ago and basically it is a known bug with the Sky software that affects all of the boxes as far as as I can make out. It is basically some kind of "memory leak" so once the box has been left on for some time then the analogue teletext won't work anymore. The only cure is to reboot the sky box and then it will work. Does not seem to be a priority for sky to fix...

This constantly happens and it's a pain in the neck. Once you reboot it - up it pops - one hour later it's gone again.
