    Couple of questions:

What kind of guarantee/warranty, if any, do you provide on the work done?

How long have you been doing computer repairs and what level of expertise have you built up in it?

    ---

As for it being 'allowed' on the boards... I dunno- it's solicitation, - free advertising, essentially. Some would call it spam.

To be perfectly honest, I don't think anyone should be letting Artur near their PC.

Judging by his posts he doesn't seem to have a decent grasp of PC operation or troubleshooting.

Not to put you down or anything Artur but repairing PCs is not something you should be doing if you don't know what you're at.

Think of how fun it would be to "repair"(and I use this term very loosely) a small business' Server and end up knocking the thing out altogether.

Imagine the fun of having your kneecaps smashed by some unhappy types in suits.

Although i have never asked for money from peeps (so not pro here) but lots of them problems i have seen are standard, you know...new hard drive, cd-rom, install a new os.
And as for a companies server, dont they contract guys to do that kinda stuff, generally the people they bought from (ie) dell and if the company is big enough, they have their own ppl.
but there really is only one way you learn.

How much to fix my computer?

It was a 1.2gig athlon, 512megs of ram G force 64megs and so on.

But for some reason it's telling me it only a 233 32megs ram and 8meg card?

What could the problem be and have the MCSE got it covered?

FANJ, since I'm an MCSE I think I'm well within my rights to charge you £100 for the first hour and £50 for each additional hour.

You'll need to supply me with many cups of coffee(two spoons of coffee, three sugars and a drop of milk) and fourty John Player Blue. I'll use your carpet as an ashtray.

Also, I probably won't be able to fix it, it sounds like a virus has taken control of the OS. You'll need to call a specialist.

Oh, did I forget to mention MCSE means nothing especially when dealing with your bog standard home PCs?

With PCs experience is king, and depending on your work environment a bit of in-depth knowlegde in particular fields doesn't go astray either.

How about instead of 40 John Player Blue I give you 30 B&H plus you get to pick your own brand of coffee?

If you have a decent amount of REAL experience, arthur, why not tell us about it. Otherwise stop posting crap.

Yes, it does, but not when it comes to hardware repairs. Have you any *real* *relevant* expertise to speak of or is it time again to "start the music" and "light the lights" ? tongue.gif

and what exactly does he mean by repair, software or hardware repair,

something goes so wrong with my software i need to call someone out, ill format and start again, not real point for the average how user, hardware repair tends not to be on site for anything serious, usually someone calls out these "experts" from the like of deal, to install a new hard drive or something,
what exactly do you mean when you say repair

Yes, a Microsoft qualification for Windoze. Increasingly questioned as such as they go out of date quickly. Generally used as a CV filter by HR departments.

What's it go to do with PC (hardware) repair?

Ok, I live in leixlip, and I upgrade/build/"repair" computers, but I don't openly advertise my services here. My computer is broken, can you come around and fix it? I don't know much about the MCSE, but do you have much real, hands on experience?
