I need a quiet DVD drive that can do all sorts of fancy ripping stuff (sub channel readings, RAW, etc., regionfree/easily hacked to region free) and UDMA33 minimum interface.
Or a similar spec DVD writer.

I don't give a rats ass about the speed so long as it isn't 2x DVD or something.

Personally i`d go with pioneer or samsung drives(Have used both DVD types of these and pretty good)

Don`t know much about DVD RW ones though.

I've got an LG 16x DVD drive .... region-free (firmware update)

    DRD-8060B (I think). Not sure.

John, I'd definitly go with Pioneer.

My A03 is lovely and quiet. Does everything aswell.

If a DVD-RW not your thing then I'd go for either of the current Samsung or Pioneer drives.
botha re currently being used in the X-Box and the drive on that is quiet...cant even hear it over the Hum of the actual box.
