is it just me or does any one else notice that since college finished the traffic on boards is reduced.

there are a lot less posts, as of right now there is nearly one and a half hours between the first and last posts on the front page "Latest 20 Threads from Bulletin and Community Boards"

i'm still pretty much a (hate to say it but) "newbie", only started using boards in March so i think there is huge drop in usage. dunno what is like every other summer....

Hey, when I'm in college I get to use boards less. Wait till I get back to Ireland I can actually access the internet at night. Oh dear god the prospect.

    where is everyone gone???

Exams, holidays, football, no free net access in college. ;)

It's easy to post up in college, it passes the time when you're stuck in a stupid programming practical or whatever. At home I spend a lot less time online and as this post has pointed out traffic in general on the boards is a lot lighter so there are far less topics to reply to.

i am still here! well most days anyway at some stage or another , it was great in colege with the free access and all but nowadays the ould phone bills are wrecking my fun .

    *sings* Where has everybody gone?

God, you would swear people have jobs or something!

The collapse in traffic has confimed everything I suspected about the typical boards member - that they are students who never spend thier own money on net access! The society boards have nearly ground to a halt now massive posts have to be written
    on members own time.

Well I don't mind the slow down. Cause with a drought in the boards, the summer months are usually quite busy in irc.

Still here too. But unfortunately I have one of those jobs that gets very busing during the summer, so posting during the day doesn't happen as much as it used to.

Btw, can I just say I'm impressed with the amount of naked people running around here... can anyone join in? ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,924 ✭✭✭✭BuffyBot

I think me naked would be enough to close down boards forever....the bandwith alone for my ass would be exorbitant :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 224 ✭✭SYL

I post from work so I'll be a permanent fixture for the 'summer' (term used lightly). I'll be heading back to Uni as a mature student in September, but should still have time to offer my 2 cents here from time to time.

It has gotten very quiet in here though.

Just as I'm coming back to boards following a FYP/Exam related absence of two months I find the useage tailing off.

I've still got college net access but no home dial up when I'm in Galway. Its a pain in the ass the only time I can get on at night is if i go home. Despite the pitifully slow speeds I really miss dialing up late at night.

I had a job like that for 5 months last year ... work placement!

But the great thing (not from a work experience point of view of course) was that I wasn't actually doing any work. IR£230 per week to come in for 39 hours and browse the internet. I came in for 8 hours Monday to Thursday but I used to take a lot of Fridays off. Took about 2 hours of breakfast/lunch/tea breaks every day.

So much for being a co-op working as an "Integration and Test Engineer" then!

To keep this on topic ... that was when I signed up for boards ... and it was quiter back then a bit like now!
