Sabbath. They just rule all. Not an easy choice though.

Everyone knows Queen are the best.

Brian May and Freddie are golden gods!!

    Closely followed by Atari Jaguar.....

    Yeah, Queen are brilliant.
It was a toss-up between them and Sabbath...

    The Ludwig van Beethoven Experience.

Everyone knows Rob that Morzart Light Orcestra wiped the floor with the Ludwig van Beethoven Experience :p

Ah but in all seriousness....Queen were the best...everyone and I mean everyone, from 6 to 76, knows most of Queenn's main songs...how many people can name more the 2 of Led Zepplins' or Sabbaths' songs?

The poll is a little unclear. If were voting for the BEST band then anyone with any sense would vote for the Beatles.
If its personal favorites tho, i'd go the Doors (have to agre with kali tho - wot, no pink floyd?:) )

Somehow i think people are slightly more aware of the beatles back catelogue than queens :)

For the sheer legacy that has followed it has to be the Beatles.
If it wasn`t for the beatles it`d reckon we`d al be listening to techno crap

Where the feck is Judas Priest, again.

I guess I'll have to chose between Sabbath and Thin Lizzy then so.

Has to be the doors given those choices

how the hell could you choose judas priest over the beatles in a poll of 'greatest bands'? i know this is rock/metal, but come on.

You could also ask how someone could choose Led Zep, or Sabbath over the Beatles, but look! They have!
And Priest were one of the most infuencial bands in metal history, so why the hell could someone into metal not suggest them?

Well Led Zeppelin had the best musicians and
way better songs than The Beatles IMO.

In your opinion, not in the opinion of the vast majority of a. the general public and b. experts*

Its debatable whether the musicians in led zeppelin were the best also. eg, Mercury probably had a better voice, gilmour is probably a better guitarist, The Whos bassist (can never remember his name) is arguably better than jones. Zep win with thier drummer tho:)

I'd choose many more bands above the Beatles if I had the choice. Do you have a problem with my opinion?

I think everyone realises the importance of the beatles...every poll shows their importance and it gets kind of boring seeing them win all the time esp. in polls like this when you can only choose one...

It's kinda nice to recognise some of the *lesser* bands (and I'm talking in terms of the beatles here people, each band on the list are excellent:))

I'd say you have to take it in context. For someone like Pornapster there, who's into his Metal, he's far more likely to pick a band that has directly infuenced what he listens to. The infuence of Sabbath and Priest can still be heard in rock and metal today. Much more so that the beatles. Whether it's popular opinion or not is irrelevant, and quite a null point. And I'm sure and 'Expert' would tell you this.

Type O Negatives main 2 influences are Beatles and Sabbath. More so the Beatles (have you seen the amount of covers they've done?).

But yeah... Queen baby. None of the rest were ever as funny. Or eccentric.

That's hardly a fair indication. Queen were very acceptable and popular - not so for, say, Sabbath.

I mean, a lot of people are probably more familiar with more of Westlife's (using the possesive tentatively) songs than they would be with Sabbath's, merely because they get radio play.

Having said that, Queen totally rocked. But so did all the others - I couldn't choose one as the best.

I'm afraid I would have to say GNR but since they arent listed then I wont vote. Maybe they arent old enough to be considered classic but they were/are simply the finest band to ever grace the earth.
I never liked the Beatles nor ever will like them.

As far as I recall, they only done that Medley of beatles songs.
    But two full Sabbath songs.

And they also covered Hendrix, Neil Young, and a few others...

Maybe but it shows how universal their music was....it didn't just apply to certain sub section of the music world eg. Judas Priest...it was liked by damn near everyone in the metal as well as the pop world...

Music in its best form should be open to everyone....not just to a certain *cool* subsection:)

Come now, just because something is not popular doesn't mean it's not open to anyone who cares to persue it.

Well my Gran loved Queen...but for some reason I don't think that she'd like Judas Priest....:p
