Good game. Very strong second half from Ireland, especially after the equaliser. We could've had it at the end..... but I suppose we could've went 2 down at the start of the second half so I'm happy enough.

Well done to Ireland proably our best World Cup performance (actually playing football not hoofing)
Knew it be a draw but didnt think we would be that good .
As soon as Mc Ateer went off and actual footballer came on the right ireland looked dangerous.
man of the match Kilbane .

I think Reid definally made an impression, pity he'd be replacing such a good player.

    WAN THE LADS!

A poor performance at best in the first half, dominatied by a superb display by Cameroon. Second half, well what can ya say, Mick must have rollicked them good! A great performance by the lads, could have oh so easily won it. But alas a draw was a great result, considering all that went before it.

WTF is a plastic Paddy? Kilbane's Dad is from Achill, where I come from - I wouldn't call him plastic just cos of that. Don't be so fuc*ing smart assed with assinine remarks, just cos they're 1st gen Irish.

Sarcasm is obviously wasted on you. I have absoleutly nothing against any player who puts on the green of Ireland. I was simply making a remark towards the people on this board who have made remarks towards non pure irish playing for us etc.

And he probably meant Holland not Kinsella :)

Steve Finnan really made a difference. Why he did not start I'll never know. Still nice to see a Fulham lad running out.

I think a draw was a fair result we did have some chances but so did Cameroon. Encouraging second half now if we can play the entire Germany game like that we could pull a surprise.

The most encouraging aspect for me is that it will have brought the squad together and given them a much needed lift!
German game will be tough, of that I have no doubt, but we'll go into looking for a win and believing we can get it!

Kilbane rejected an England U-15 youth call up because he wanted to play for Ireland.

    Respect.

I think the plastic paddy comment was aimed at a certain Mr.Bateman who I expect to be eating a big helping of humble pie as I thought Holland & Kinsella were outstanding today :)

In the end I was disappointed we didn't win it but given that we could have been 3-0 down after the 1st half I'm satisfied :)

    Bring on Germany !!

A bit late for comment, a game of two halves, the main diff for Ireland seemed to be McAteer being replaced by Finnan who made the right channel his own. McAteer is plainly not fully fit.

The Cameroonians seemed to lack heart, once they conceeded they kept falling back and Ireland were unlucky not to get all the points. Mind I say that remembering they could have been two up
    very easily before Hollands goal.

Finally did you see Dunphy (aaaggghh! ), even mentioning RK at half-time was idiotic. He said something to the effect that the only player who can turn this game around is sat in Cork.

    Mike.

Watched it on BBC so missed that Dunphy part:)
But i said during the week if McAteer knew he wasnt fit he should stand up and say so ,because if he isnt and he knows he isnt he is robbing Healy of a place in the squad.
No Irishman would do that to another.
He proved today he wasnt so he isnt any use to ireland he should hold up his hand and say so.

i really do hate him :)

As I said on a diifferent board my next door neighbour reckons Dunphy has "problems" as he put it.
His comments after the game really were the rantings of a bitter little man.

This board is much like the rest of the internet in so far as people come on, rant and moan and generally try to force their opinions down others throats, whether it be "plastic paddies" or several other topics Iv seen "debated" here over the last few weeks, Im not gonna bother replying to these guys anymore as they generaly dont tend to have the courage of their convictions in the "real world" where they would have to fight their corner.
Sod the begrudgers (well thats what Im gonna do any way) and enjoy the next month of football, be glade that Ireland are still in there kicking and screaming, we'll have the whole summer for recriminations :D

I must say I found the German match to be a bit of a kick in the nuts after this mornings performance. Holland and Kinsella will really need to put themselves amongst the German midfield if we are to get a result

Yeah just like to add my support to most of what's been said in this thread. Magnificent performance in the second half. Any player pulling on a green shirt is an Irishman and Eamon Dunphy, ah well, he illustrated his "problems" by even resorting to attacking Jack Charlton's preparations for US 94.

    Bring on the Germans.

Incidently, the comment that Kinsella is in any way a plastic paddy demonstrates dire ignorance of his background. Mark Kinsella grew up down the road from me, (Glasnevin, a stones throw from The Slipper (aka Matt Waldon) pub. He's as Irish as they get.

Speaking as a Glasnevin man myself I agree with you wholeheartedly! :)

Great result today. Everyone can say we should have won it but we were lucky to go in at half time only 1-0 down so on the balance of things I'll take a draw!

I think what we should do now is give everything to beat Germany and if we achieve this then play our reserve side in the match against Saudi and scrape a 1-0 win which would probably be enough to win us the group and leave our players fresh for the last 16 match!
