Just got back from seeing this, and I have to say I really enjoyed it. It was kind of uneven in places, and the climax was over just after it started, but as movies go, it was a good popcorn leave-your-brain-at-the-boxoffice kind of film.

Well acted, good script, exciting, good soundtrack, astonishing special effects, but its over just as you're getting into it !!

Jeremy Irons (as the main bad guy!) is one of the coolest baddies to come along in a while..... very creepy.

Anyway, two thumbs up from me !!

    - Dave.

Must go see it. I remember watching the original on tv when was ten. Totally fascinated me. Hope the new one has that scene where all the books turn to dust.

Yes, he was indeed cool! Pity he wasn't really in it that much.

I thought he looked exactly like Kain, from the Legacy Of Kain games...

I didnt like it. It had some very nicely done special effects with the whole time lapse effort, but i was very uneven, and ended with damp squib rather than a big bang. I've seen a hell of a lot better.

    Well acted

Ehhh did you not see the Mumba's in this film ? I thought the 2 of them showed some of the worst acting to come along in ages. Really took away from an otherwise good movie

Think you could do better ??

I have to say i was very dissapointed.. sure there is another thread about this somewhere but anyway... i had high hopes for it.. I did enjoy it but it was not a great movie and thats what i expected.. i guess its my own fault for thinking it would be one of the best of the year.. its was very planet of the apes near the end!
As for the Mumba's.. are you sure it was not a case of fair acting (first movie and all) but the bit of Dublin accent made it seem they were crap?

That doesn't mean we have to cut them slack :D

Personally, I didn't think they were awful, but they weren't good either (at all). Does anyone know why they were cast?

The film overall was alright. I didn't enjoy seeing it as the cinema was full (literally) of 10 year old. WHY anyone would take a bunch of little kids to go see the Time Machine... I don't know!
    They giggled at everything.

The original was better... But Jeremy Irons was fab. Loved his outfit.

The ending was terrible, in fact it didn't really end it just stopped. The scene where Guy Pearcesteps into a war-zone and you can see the moon exploding in the sky is class.

Its interesting to hear different takes on this movie.

While very few people rate it as anything above "passable", I do notice that what is liked/disliked about it changes a lot.

Best comment I heard about it was something like :

"Looks like Samantha Mumba may actually have some talent. Unfortunately, the scriptwriter, director and producer clearly dont."

Samantha Mumba was watchable as an actor but I think she was cast because she is watchable for her other talents, ie. the scene where she climbs the ladder wearing a skirt with splits all the way up to her waist.
