"Lucas Rules Out Episode VII Again

Thanks goes out to Dark Horizons for pointing out an Infobeat article which comes from the World Entertainment News Network that features George Lucas talking about Episode VII. Apparently the Wars guru had thought about going and doing another flick with the original cast after the prequel trilogy completes, but he has since abandoned the idea. Read on:

George Lucas has finally ruled out a seventh Star Wars movie, because he doesn't want to spend his final years on earth working on a pensioners-in-space project.

The movie mogul had been considering one final Star Wars project with his original cast, which he would have started after wrapping up the current trilogy of prequels.

He says, "I thought it might be fun to bring CARRIE (FISHER) and MARK (HAMMILL) and HARRISON (FORD) back when they're 65 and make another movie with them.

"But I'm going to be over 60 when I finish this and it takes 10 years to do a trilogy. I'm not going to spend my last 10 years doing Star Wars." "

tbh I never really thought of it as being a possibility (despite some very annoying people insisting it would happen)

Plus I think that it was all ended nicely by RotJ

Yeah, I agree - let's be happy with what we've got. These things can be done to death very easily.

ROTJ was the perfect way to finish IMHO:)

Yeah, leaves it up to the imagination what happens afterwards, which can be a good thing. It might have worked really well, but might have been overkill. Unfortunately if it is overkill you can't turn back time and change it.

6 films ain't back, we should be happy with what we're getting ;)

Timothy Zahn wrote an authorised trilogy ending which is excellent - check them out 3 books class.

Enjoyed those Timothy Zahn books - mind you it's the guts of a decade since I read them

Nice one! I think six is enough as anymore would just dilute the saga to tedium. Lets just hope now that Lucas doesn't hand the reigns over to McCallum to start spewing out some 24 part Star Wars TV show once the trilogy is completed. Damn I dislike that guy with a passion!
