I would personnally say that they will qualify out of the group, maybe not as well as we might have, but in all fairness we are still left with a decent team, we should all support our fellow brothers in their campaign to bring back gold for Ireland*!

Gwan the Green, White And Gold I say!!!!!!!

we will fail to progress past the group stages, with losses to cameroon and germany and a close victory over saudi. A week to two weeks later mick mc carthy will resign after there is calls for his head, due to his sloppy handling of the whole roy keane affair and the early exit of the team.
    Here's hoping i'm wrong!

    Oh f. F .S.!!!!!!

If Ireland make it past the group stages, you people will be the very people cheering them on saying they'd make it all along.

So .. either shut the F*CK up or emigrate to cameroon or germany for a spot of flag-waving for those teams.

RK does not equal an entire team.

Personally, I think we wont do so badly. We seem to play well as the underdogs. That and its all still to play for. The world cup hasn't even started yet!

Cameroon are looking the best and may top the group.

Ireland may beat S Arabia, and may come 3rd place unless

Germnay help Ireland and lose all their games

    3rd place I say

Lemming you are quite clearly a dickhead. Predicting Ireland not getting through the groups stages does not take away from how much one supports the team, you fool.
If Ireland come through the group stages yes obviously I will be cheering them on, but I won't say I knew they'd do it all along because I honestly don't think they will.
If they do I will be delighted, obviously. Hopes and expectations are two diffrent things, you must be very young if you don't know that yet.

It looks like it's going to be a tough game Saturday. Preparations haven't been the best and Cameroon look a good side. We really need a result in this game to give ourselves a chance. I think we could win the other 2 games but there would be a lot of pressure on if we lose. So I think that we can make it to the second phase and if we are second in the group that would probably mean Spain who are damn good but we have the team to trouble them.
I predict phase 2 so but fingers crossed.

Geeh ... well you could have fooled me with all the amount of defeatist "we're f*cked cause we're crap" bullsh*t floating around Bateman.

Last time I checked (2 seconds ago) I did not have my apendage attached to my head. Of course .. that can be arranged for yourself if you persist.

I am quite frankly sick to f*cking death of all this doom and gloon. Show a little faith and pride in your team. They've EARNED the right to represent their country, much less win the cup and I think its about time thawt everyone realised that instead of bitching about RK.

No, I do know the difference. Sio take that condescending attitude and shove it where the sun doesn't shine. There's also a difference between believing in your national team doing their best and writing them off, which many are doing.

I'm sick of all this absolute w*nk-stain over RK. I'm backing the team 110%. I believe in them, win or lose. They represent this nation, and ulimately, you and me, and I'm proud of them for getting this far.

NARITA — A British citizen named on a "hooligan list" carrying 175 World Cup tickets was refused entry into Japan and deported Tuesday, immigration officials said Wednesday.

The Briton, 37, was detained after arriving at Narita airport Monday on a British Airways plane from London and was carefully examined by immigration authorities as his name was on a list of alleged hooligans, the officials said.

Immigration authorities found a total of 175 tickets for the upcoming World Cup finals, mainly England matches, in his bag, and believe he came to Japan to resell the tickets, the officials said.

IZUMO — Ireland's World Cup players said Tuesday they do not want Roy Keane to return to the squad after the former captain was sent home last week.

The players issued a statement in support of manager Mick McCarthy, who axed Keane following an argument at their training base in Saipan.

"Regrettably, the manner of Roy's behavior prior to his departure from Saipan and the comments attributed to him since have left the staff and players in no doubt that the interests of the squad are best served without Roy's presence," said the statement, approved by all the remaining 22 squad members.

"The players bear no malice to Roy on a personal level and are looking forward to a successful World Cup campaign and the continued support of our loyal supporters both home and abroad."

SEOUL — Argentine soccer legend Diego Maradona was granted permission to enter World Cup co-host South Korea despite his past drug record for which he was denied a visa to visit co-host Japan, officials said Wednesday.

The 41-year-old former player, who captained his country to World Cup success in 1986, recently filed a request for a Korean visa during the World Cup and the prosecution decided to grant his request, officials said

I'll be cheering the lads as much as the next guy. I've followed them through the qualifying and went to the friendlys too. But if I was to bet on it I don't think we'll do it. :(

Reaching the 2nd round was never going to be easy even with Roy and without him we're still a good side... but considering he is gone and the psychological blow as a result of all the drama, I think the added stress/pressure will cost us.

This is realism not pessimism. 3 points for a win off the Saudis, can't see us getting any more. But if we do you can cut off my left hand. ;):p

There is a good chance, with this Roy Keane thing put to rest that the team will come out fighting - alot of people might have been shocked at how little faith there is in them, assuming they'd already proved themselves and their committment to Ireland. We just might see loads of heros... or loads of mentally drained and undermined men. I dunno - tough call really.

    JarJar, change your icon.

Lemming you are clearly a computer geek with no life, no intelligence, no friends etc etc. "Oh I don't seem to have an appendange attached to my head. Blah Blah Blah" Shut the fu.ck up you inbred cocksmoker!

Ireland aren't going to get out of the group. But I'm still going to cheer them all the way to McCarthy's sacking.
