I just got delivery of the Linux Kit for PS2. It's a very basic install, mainly some development programs and Gimp. It is pretty fast, all I need to do now is find programs that work on it.

I'll let you know how I go.

    Indeed.

How was the hardware installation? Did you have to crack her open or is the hdd external? Did it work with any old monitor? have you managed to configure an ethernet card in it yet? Get it on the interweb and the like? Are the GNU tools or all custom built sony crap in it?

    Details.

    Regards,

    Paul

Hardware installation was simple. The only thing is that you have to have a spare memory card, I didn't so I had to go buy one!
All I had to do is open the expansion port, join the hard drive onto the ethernet card, shove them both in and tighten the screws on the ethernet card.

Installation is simple, most of it is automatic.

The memory card is used as a boot drive, so you can't boot without it. CD 1 must also be in the drive to boot.

The interface is very basic, so I'll have to tinker about with that. I'm not sure whether they're all Sony built, but I don't think they are.

I ordered it off the web ages ago and got it yesterday. I don't know if they're limited no.s or not.

Actually what I'll do is repeat the whole installation process and give a good write-up on what I think of it.

If you have any other questions, then ask away.

    Cheers,

    Matty
