Will Roy Keane Apologise?

He was pushed very hard last night in the interview to say sorry, with the interviewer quoting reasons from Mick & the lads, to the people who had saved all that money to go out to Japan and see him play with the Irish.

According to McCarthy as of lunch-time today (Tues) if Keane picks up the phone and rings him to apologise he is back in.

Is Roy too proud? Will he? Won't he? Should he?

I know I want him to bite the bullet and apologise. Leave all the shíte about the bust up until after the World Cup to be sorted. What about everyone else?

According to him he has nothing to apologise for, so I doubt it.

In fact, even if he did, he wouldn't mean it.

it's time to bury the hatchet and get on with playing some football.

If he was going to apologise, he might have done it last night. Its still not out of the question, but I don't think its going to happen. And I agree that even if he did it, he wouldn't mean it.

They both have to climb down though
The phonecall is made, and there is some kind of formula where a statement afterwards says
Keane apologises for his offensive conduct..
The team accespts he didn't feign injury...

    That's halfway in my book

I wouldn't let him back at this stage no matter how much he apologises. Rest of the team need a chance to recoup some sort of morale for Sat. Don't need that tosser f*cking it all over again.

    >>The team accespts he didn't feign injury...

It was the manager who made that accusation, not any of the players. Anyway, even if McCarthy accepts he was wrong to say Keane was injured, Keane is basically getting away unpunished with his outburst, McCarthy will have no respect from the rest of the players, and he will have to go at the end of the WC, no matter how well he does, in this case WITH Keane.

The players were not involved in this from the beginning, they could have stayed focused and satyed professional, but no, some of them had to make smart comments to certain papers at the weekend. They have compromised themselves, and now stand to lose a lot of face if he does come back. For the likes of Matt England to be blasting Roy Keane is an absolute disgrace, no matter what Keane did. Make no mistake, the players have nailed their colours to the mast on this one, although it has nothing to do wth accusations of feigning injuries.

I think a compromise apology could be formulated. One that apologises for Keane's "choice of words" without apologising for having a go.

Both men might save some face with that approach.

    'He's romancing you
    and chancing his arm
    He'll be here
    Smiling on time'

From 'Roy's Keen' by Morrissey. I reckon that's an omen.

    Let's hope so anyway.

If Keane calls McCarthy and tries to settle it and gets told to **** off or it doesn't work out, he's a winner. Everyone will blame McCarthy for not working it out.

If he calls Mick and he gets back into the fold, he's an absolute winner, especially if we beat the Cameroon on Sat.

Imagine Keane playing with all this frustation and emotion on top of his already insatiable hunger to win! Combine that with the fact the Squad will finally able to settle and concentrate on winning with every confidence, the team being whole again.

C'mon Roy make the call, ye'll all be heroes if we qualify for the 2nd phase!

    >>the team being whole again.

Have you missed all the stuff that other players have said about Keane since he's left?

If Roy Keane were to come back, I'm sure a gentleman's agreement would be put in place. No media, no more gripes or arguments.

You've got to remember that these lads have played and trained together for years, it's wouldn't be completely off the wall that they could slip back into their previous working team ethic.

I've been listening to the interviews from McCarthy and Quinn all morning, there has definitely been a softening of views.

Put yerself in anyone of those players shoes, on the day, walking out against Cameroon, right then and there what would you give to have a world-class player like Keane in the side?

I want you see it, you want to see it, we all want to see it. But the problem is, after what some of the fùckers (McAteer, Holland) have said about Keane in the press, he feels so let down, he doesn't think they deserve his presence there. And its going to be difficult to change his mind.

OMG. I think its time to get take off the blinkers there Mickah. Theres not going to be any happy families with Mick and Keano. You honestly think that Keane could go back and they'd all just get along!!!!!

It would be nice if it was all as simple as your version of events but I'm afraid its not.

One or other of the two (McCarthy/Keane) will forever be gone from that squad. Which one is really the only question now and as much as the masses want Keane playing I cant see the FAI doing a U-Turn and sacking McCarthy.

And actually just as an after thought, I'm very much of the opinion that unless something drastic happens to settle this whole situation down _ASAP_ that we wont make it out of the group.

Jesus, I never said they'd be happy families, all I said was if Keane apologises, McCarthy pretty much HAS to let him back in, because he and FAI have said as much.

That means that some sort of bargain/agreement would have to be reached so that they co-exist in the same team.

I totally agree with you, once the World Cup is over the shít will hit the fan for one of the two, I reckon it'll be Mick McCarthy.
But I'd love to see a breakthrough just for the period of the World Cup, Ireland won't get out of this group without Roy Keane.

I voted are-sa-hole but I do think the FAI, McCarthy's pride and the media like a bunch of rats are also to blame in this.
I voted "@rsehole" because Cameroon had their flight delayed for 5 days with none of their coaches to help, and Argengtina had equipment lost.
Did any of those players ( who are as dedicated to their country as Roy Keane ) Walk out of the team, Speak to the media, or call their manager a @F&*^ing %^&.

No they did not, but Roy Keane did.
Keane has his head wrecked from Sir Alex, he's spoiled and pampered by that f%^&ing man utd.

Very simple view of things there JarJar - you keep reading whatever it is the media have been telling you like a good boy.
