Robbie Fowler scored an injury time equaliser for a weakened English side in Kobe Japan. Maybe Cameroon won't be so indominatible after all?

If Cameroon play against us like they did in that game (or from what I saw of it at least) ... to put it plainly ... we're f**ked!

The result was a draw, but make no mistake, Cameroon were the better team by far. England were lucky to get away with a draw, it was only shambolic defense against high balls that got the Cameroonians out in the end- something that they can't count on against Sweden. Mick McCarthy, for all the criticism levelled at him, is no fool of a manager. He'll go for as many high balls into the box as he can get from midfield, that is the only thing that seems to rattle the Cameroon back 4. Try to play through them on the deck, and Ireland's technical shortcomings might well be unmasked, as England's were today.

    not sure i agree.
all managers at this stage are trying to polish tactics, rotate squad members and generally see where the problems are. they are not interested in the win or the loss, only how their team is gelling together. the same can be said for irelands loss to nigeria. ireland werent at the races, what they were doing was looking at the football. far more importatn.....

Cameroon showed what anyone who watched the Cup of Nations already knew; they are a very skillfull, physically strong side who will test our bottle. But they are still shìte at the back. Staunton will probably have to sit on the edge of the 16 yd box and kick everything that moves. A few hard tackles in the first few minutes to let them know we are there (can we trust Kinsella/Holland to do this?) will be a good idea.

Cameroon are an excellent team very fast skillful and aggressive. If Ireland sit back they will destroy us. They have a weakness which is their tackling, Ireland should allow Keane and Duff every opportunity to run at the Cameroon Defense, once Duff skins a few of them on the left I can see them hacking him down and there is a very good possibility of them having a man sent off.

Yeah I must say, after watching their friendly against England, I can see our opening game being quite a dirty one. I wouldn't say they are any more likely than us to pick up the bookings though.
