Does anyone have linkage to remove the default search engine that internet explorer uses? Its only driving me spare, everytime it cant reach a host it searchs some dodgy Casino site.

Iv looked throught the registry for the link and removed it and tried setting IE back to its original state.

    Someone help.

    Regards,

    Paul

    I suggest the following:

    - take a look in c:\windows\Application Data (or the equivalent in whatever version your using).. there might be one or two dodgy filenames there called plg_ie something or other (its usually lop.com that does this ****)
    - download ad-aware... this will scan your registry and hard drive for ad-related products (the kind that keep doing this to IE)
    - never download any .exe files off crack sites again.
    - get a decent firewall program.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main is the Search key for IE.

note it'll usually do the same to Netscape as well, so check that if you have it installed.

[edit] just to say i had this same problem a while ago, had to manually delete everything and sort out the registery which is a pain in the ass.. so again Ad-Aware and a firewall software are musts...
