right.. theres too many ill-informed replies on this board... like it or not this is a factual board. things work or they don't.

    so from now on:
any non-helpful/non-constuctive or off-topic posts will most likely be deleted

"wtf?" says you.. we'll put it like this: basically if somebody has a problem, we would only expect replies that are informative and accurate, otherwise the original posters gonna
    a) be even more confused.
    b) be less likely to post again looking for answers.
    c) doubt the validity of future replies on these boards.

so basically start backing up comments with knowledge and/or experience..

note that we're not stopping debate on issues, just ****e posts.

    Enjoy,
    Ken...

Hey, I'm pretty new to Boards, and I'm very new to the Technology part of it.
I'm just wondering if "Muppets" is really acceptable way comment on people that frequent this area? It was one of the first posts that caught my eye to look at and I found it very off putting.

I understand that when people post non-technical things in a technical area that can be frustrating, but is it really necessary to call people Muppets?

In no way am I trying to personally attack and if it's something that everyone else is perfectly happy with then I'll just have to get used to it, But what I would like to know is just that... Is everyone perfectly happy with being addressed in that way?

You're posting in a sticky. These are meant as informational bulletins that you read, but don't post in. Charters are about what is acceptable and what isn't on a board, it isn't an invitation to discussion. If all these replies stay up here, forever and ever people will read about how you dislike the word "muppets".

With regards to your "muppets" complaint. Who said everyone was a muppet? You can't honestly say you think it's okay to post about flowers and housing prices in the Technology board. That's all they're saying, don't post stuff that isn't relevant. And don't tell people stuff that is blatantly wrong (who knows what damage they could do to their rigs).

If you started a thread asking for help with a PC problem and there wasn't a single helpful reply wouldn't you be a bit miffed?

Boards like this one are very susceptible to spamming and general mayhem. If people like Kali weren't here to clean it up things would be a lot worse. You should say thanks instead of complaining.

Load of fuss over nothing. Now someone's gonna have to clean up this sticky too

Well, there isn't much room for manoeuvrability around that one is there! Not only am I posting in the wrong place but I should be grateful and not question.
I have no problem with the word Muppet, I've been know to call a person or two the very same. What I am doing is questioning what is acceptable and what isn't on a board, i.e. Should a Moderator come across as aggressive and insulting? Acceptability seemed to be what the post or "Sticky" was about therefor I assumed that it was relevant.
At no time did I question the relevance of the post, having to clean up other peoples c**p must be very tedious and of course I'm grateful that the appropriate answers are there to the questions I ask.
I'm just looking for politeness in a non-aggressive manor. Is it too much to ask...

If it means anything, SS, Kali's post doesn't come across as aggressive to me, just factual.

but I don't think it really matters to be honest. You can't fix every problem in a polite manner. I'm sure Kali is looking for people to understand and carry out without questioning. Is that too much to ask?
