    i was wondering whats the difference between xp home and pro?
    is pro just the same as home but with a load more bells and whistles?

    Basically not a whole lot... but Pro is probably better if you can get it

    Pro is a superset of Home. Everything contained in Home is also contained in Pro. It's not like the old differences between Win95/98 and NT, where you made sacrifices by using the business version of Windows. If a game will run on Home it will run on Pro (as with any other software) - they have the same kernel and so on.

    So like Saruman said - if they're both on offer there's no reason not to get Pro.
