    Does anyone know the Irish word for "arm"?
    As far as I am aware, chos goes right up from foot to hip, but aren't there seperate words for arm and hand (làmh):confused:

    I don't think so- as far as I'm aware, "lámh" covers it.

    "Sciathán" is used to differenciate in irish between the hand(lámh) which finishes at the wrist and the arm(sciathán) from wrist to shoulder
    (a widely unknown word I must admit, they do seem to only mention "lámh" in the schools).

    It's also the word used for the wing of a bird.
    So although irish does differenciate between arm and hand, you could say that it doesn't differenciate between a bird's wing and a human's arm.
    Plural of "sciathán" is "sciatháin" with an extra "i".
