Once the programme rights issue became the main issue, it was always going to be difficult.
To be honest, I don't see it happening. TG4 is probably the only channel going to appear.

    seano, I MUST ask you.

Do you KNOW this as "swear on the Bible" FACT, or is it just something you've been told. BEWARE OF LIARS- I'm NOT branding you as one, as I'm sure you are innocent, but there are some people who are willing to tell you anything!

(This sermon came from the Reverend Christy Greer)

My own view on this is that the Irish terrestials wil go on Sky in the North-but probably not untill UTV and ch4 arrive on Sky down here.
Thats not to say that the two are linked, but I do think that if later in the year DTT gets off the ground in the south with the UK terrestials, then Sky will get up off its backside and use a track machine to clear away all the Red tape.
If Sky actively wanted RTÉ in the North they could work actively with them to get it on.
I doubt if that is the case though:mad:

As Sky footed the bill for RTE carriage on SD, then I'm sure they would be keen to see RTE in NI to boost subscribers

i made the predicton that rte is in NI in August
Well /I stand by that and add that it will be on even before that //maybe even June//donot forget where you heard it first

    When you say
do not forget where you heard it first
it implies that you have some kind of inside information.
Is this the case or are you just winding us up?

    I HAVE NO INSIDE INFO
AND I AM NOT WINDING YOU UP
THE INFO IS MY OWN PERSONEL VIEW

Take your point Irishbyte re RTÉ bringing extra subscribers to the NI Sky platform-but I don't think it would have as comparably big an effect as adding UTV and Ch 4 in the South.
Mr Deering is on record as stating that Sky subs in ROI are increasing at a rate of about 4000 a month (indo bus. section 11th may)-thats a huge growth rate.
Last quarter they had 232 k subs, which would be over 300k by year end.

220,000 is the last figure I heard, which puts them well on course to overtake Chorus within months.

What are the schools like in Wexford madman?

If they has 232,000 subscribers at the end of last quarter, that leaves 9 months left in the year. 9 by 4,000 is 36,000 (please God let this be right :D ) That added to 232,000 is 268,000.

Now you learn something new every day. :D

The rights problem is nothing to do with Sky, it's to do with the copyright holders.

I would say forget about rte on sky in NI. I would get a 100 metre pole and a rte aerial and try to pick it up over terrestrial. Like Rte won't even give a proper service to viewers down south.
Blocking all G.A.A matches and the world cup YES THE WORLD CUP.

    Regards Culchie Boy.
