    Is there any reason to post this in two threads? Other than the I-want-to-brag-for-no-reason factor.

    Absolutely loved Odishon (Audition). Anyone else seen Uzumaki? Gory, entertaining, but not as good as some of the other (Japanese) films I've seen.

    Channel 4 showed Ring (aka Ringu) and Ring 2 over the last two Mondays. The second one wasn't as good as the original but still had a few genuinely creepy moments.

    The first had me absolutely rooted to the couch in horror at times. A genuinely rare event, horror films rarely get to me. I think if I ever meet a girl called Sadako I'll lose bladder control!

    another cult movie to watch out for is Ichi the Killer by takeshi, that makes audition relatively peaceful movie.
    Ichi the Killer, a two-hour, gross-out, gorefest based on a popular Japanese manga that boasts a queasy soundtrack by The Boredoms. Ichi is a crybaby assassin who gets stiff at the sight of violence (leaving sticky gobs of cum at the scene of the crime) and slices and dices his targets with a set of spring-loaded steel blades secreted in his trainers. He meets his match in Kakihara, a sadomasochistic albino Yakuza who takes extreme pleasure in extreme torture; a rival mobster hanging naked from the ceiling by butcher’s hooks is flayed alive with boiling oil.
    sounds like fun :)

    that body count looks impressive. anyone got any idea if this movie will ever be shown in ireland?

    If you liked Hard Boiled try some other classic Johny Woo like The Killer or The Better Tomorrow movies. Better Tomorrow 2 is better than the first but they are all worth a watch.

    At the risk of being slagged for being a pedantic poster, it is a magazine not a clip. (i'm sorry it's just a pet hate of mine)

    The One-Armed Swordsman::
    I rented this just 'cuz I just wanted to see some violent kung-fu, which this is. But then i had to watch it again 'cuz theres a good story and i wasn't paying attention the first time.

    The Prodigal Son::
    This is my favourite kung-fu, but not quite as violent

    Zombie flesh-eaters::
    This is a ****e Italian(i think!) film. 4real, don't watch it, it's crap. But i just had to mention it 'cuz i love the title :)

    Hard Boiled has got to be one of my favourite films. I love Hong Kong action films in general and am a big John Woo fan (particularly his Hong Kong films) but Hard Boiled has to be one of the best.

    Police Story 1 & 2 are great too.

    Ojimbo has gotta be one of my favourite films too.

    I really want to see Audition but they don't have it at my video store.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 418 ✭✭Zaphod B

    I'm not into the 'scene' that much but for me nothing can beat Beat Takeshi whose movies I'm starting to collect religiously. I got "Violent Cop" last week... amazing. Also "Battle Royale" is a classic in the field of gratuitous violence if you can get your hands on it before the Nagging Moms Association of Texas has all the copies burned ;)

    Anime wise, I'd say: Perfect Blue and Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust. Really good fims.

    French films are the best

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 210 ✭✭BJJ

    Dead or Alive

    Shinjuku - Sector city of darkness whoores and corruption, and Miike Takashi (Audition, Visitor Q, Fudoh). Ultra rapid-fire shoot-outs and twisted acts of perverse violence
    Vicious war between the Japanese Yakuza killers and the Chinese Triads killers.
    One of the most dizzying and spectacular openings ever and one of the weirdest soundtracks!

    Anyone recommend me good video DVD rental shops?

    I'm on the road a lot and travel between Galway and Cork.

    A little Help please!

    I prefer Japanese film
