Quoting craig@rewind over on digital spy (and he's usually a good source of info) ......

"From June 2002, Sky Text will be relaunched. With an improved interface, viewers will be able to access Sky Text information as well as watch a Sky channel at the same time.

The layout of the screens will have the Sky Text logo in the top left corner. Next to this will be the date, time, page number and the page cycle you are on (1/3 for example). Below this will be the sections of the main index page of whatever section you are in. You then just highlight and select what you want to see.

On the right will be a 1/4 screen which will feature the TV broadcast. Below this will be the menu for all of the main Sky Text sections: News, Weather, Sport, Features, Finance and Holidays. Below this on the left will be an advertising banner which will have the Blue button assigned to it so you can jump straight to the advertisers portal by pressing Blue.

Finally, in the bottom right will be three coloured circles: Red, Green and Yellow. Then, when you press the relevant colour, you will be taken to Sky Active, Sky E-mail or Sky Betting respectively.

The service has been relaunched due to viewer criticism over the slowness and the fact you are unable to hear or see the TV channel you are watching. The service is being designed using the Sky WAP TV format."

Sounds promising. I have been using Sky Text very rarely recently due to it's incredible slowness. The BBC text is far superior at the moment.

About time too! Sky text is a truly woeful service in its current guise. The BBC Text service is far, far superior...

Still think Ceefax is superior to that though....just no crap about it, especially for the football. They didn't have the score for my team (Man City) on the Digital text one day and they had the score for a Div 3 match!!

I also miss the Ceefax teletext for football updates.
Nothing beats Man Utd being one nil down and suddenly in the last minute page 304 flashes up saying Man Utd 2 Bayern Munich 1. Sensational...!!!

I agree completely about good old ceefax! The footie scores were always bang up to date. In fairness to skytext, its latest scores section is grand although it has been a real pain in the arse just trying to get into the skytext recently.

Ceefax sorted me out for many a year for the football scores. But maybe time for a change. The new skytext thing sounds good. The fact that you will always have the picture in a quarter of the TV screen is what is needed.

    Cheers,
    Mark.

Will Sky have to move their channels to do this? I believe that the reason the video feed was omitted in current version is because Sky channels are scattered and an LNB can't look in different places at once. For BBC, most of their TV channels are on 1 or 2 transponders.

LNB's receive all transponders within the same polarity simultaneously.

Yeah, but are all Sky channels on same polarity? Also, what about high and low bands?
