Will it still work if I get a new (or different) DigiBox and move my Sky card to that new box? The new box may be one that also has a FTA BBC card.

    The answer is no.
Unless you get the card and box paired up by calling Sky.
Without doing this your card is useless in another box.

    Yes, more or less.

If your Irish box has given up the ghost, and you have an UK FTA box with a BBC Card instead, ring Sky saying that your Irish box has died, that you have picked up this second-hand box, and want to transfer your existing Irish sub to the FTA box. They will be able to marry the Irish card to the English box, no worries.

Then, you can swap cards whenever you like, to watch all the channels :)

If your Irish sub is under a year, bear in mind that the box would be still under warrenty, and Sky would repair it.

They never even ask why when I want to re-pair my card and I ring up. I just tell them that I've got a new digibox and want to pair the card to it, and they do so. :)

I did this just yesterday, it took about 1 minute and they asked no questions, just make sure you have your new digibox hooked up and the sky sub card inserted.
