Punt Exchange Rate

    Hello -

I am about to make a trip to Ireland and was wondering what the current exchange rate between the Punt and the British Pound is.

The last time I checked (and admittedly this was about 5-6 years ago), the punt was worth slightly more than sterling at £1.05 or so. Is this still the case?

    Cheers,
    Simon.

Unless this is a wind up. We now use the Euro. Goto www.xe.com for a conversion.

Punt doesn't exist anymore. Should find your £ will get you more €.

    it depends.
if you go to an atm, you will get about 1.55 euro to the pound.
if you use visa it will be about 1.6 euro to the pound.
on the airplane its about 1.7 to the pound.

very handy when you go out on the beer, and you can take out loads of money :)

1.7 to the pound?? Even though the exchange rate is only €1.61 ?? You could make a killing that way. Or have I got it the wrong way round?

Only coming from the UK, the otherway around it's a rip-off.

True, true, but the conversation was originally about people coming from the UK. Otherwise the "1.55 from ATM" statement makes no sense. I feel certain there's an anomoly somewhere ;)
