ah now portugal have a better chance than italy anyway, whether they can beat france tho.....i dunno i'd say they could manage it. I'd certainly love to see them win the wc

I wouldn't bother making that bet if I was you. What you have there is a perfectly rational bet based on how teams perform "on paper". However when the we get to the finals themselves you will find certain teams overperforming just as some top seeds will underperform.

Even if the last 16 were to come out of their groups in the way you predict (which they certainly won't) it is unlikely that every tie will go to the "stronger" side as you seem to have used as your basis for victory in the matches you mention.

Hmm... I've drawn up my own world cup predicition, I'm probably being a bit optimistic in terms of Ireland's group but the rest is what I honestly think will happen.
