2 questions about real life here smile.gif

Even though the odds are always in favour of the casino, why does the establishment insist on a house limit on stakes?

Why is manhole cover round? Two reasons.

One ring to rule them all, One ring to to find them,
One ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them

One reason manhole covers are round is so that it cannot fit through or fall into the manhole itself - no matter what angle you try it wont go in.

That is not the reason casinos have limits wyv. Not the real reason anyway, because the majority of ppl who gambles one big amount would lose.

That IS the main reason why manhole covers are round btw castor. Clever.
There is another reason, albeit a little more obscure.

One ring to rule them all, One ring to to find them,
One ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them

    Ok then.
The reason casinos have gambling limits, is because otherwise people could just keep doubling their bet until they won. And they would HAVE to win eventually.

Manhole covers are also round because that makes it ez to roll 'em outa the way etc.

House odds at best are for every 10 quid you get 5.

The double bet is kind of bogus as you will loose cash, and doubling your bet after you win you will loose more.

Before they put in the green spots on a roulette wheel you could wipe it out by doubling your bet when you loose and halfing it when you win.

Even though the odds are in the house favour there is always a chance of someone dropping 1 million on one spin and winning. Also I think the limit is based on the maximum amount they could pay out on one average hit on the table. (truth is I dunno smile.gif)

As for the manhole cover, two reaons. One it will never fall in. Two no matter what way it's facing you can put it back into position.
