Im from the north of ireland.
Last year, me and some friends went to westport...... we were all over 18, but some bars would accept our northern driving licence or our international student identity card. Then they said that we need a garda card.

I dont know alot about the garda card, and was wondering if us in the north can get it, because im heading down south again this year...and I want to be able to drink :)

I am not sure if you're able to get one or not because you're not from the republic.. I could be wrong now, but you can get them from the garda stations, when you provide a photo and birtcert and passport, and they cost €7
They usually take 7/8 days to get, and they're posted back out to you. Why not bring down your passport when comming down?
And college ID's are usless in pubs/clubs nowadays..

Not being a resident, it might be difficult to get one. A passport should be acceptable.

    Information: http://www.oasis.gov.ie/justice/general/age_card.html

    The application form:
    http://www.gov.ie/garda/angarda/forms/agecardform.pdf

    "Rates
An Age Card costs 6.35 euro.

    How to apply
Download an Age Card application form (PDF format) here. This form is also available from your local Garda station. Completed application forms should be returned to the Garda station for the area in which you live.

    Where to apply
    Your local Garda station. "

Oh, strictly speaking it is the "National Age Card".

A friend of mine compleated the form and went up with it and 2 passport photo's and got it done, even though he is 18, wheres the proof that he really was the person he said he was and that he the right age..
Find it very odd, and temped to try it myself

Looks like a great way to steal your details, seeing as the National Age Card is cheaper.

    That site seems good
I am thinking very strongly about lying about my age on the form, but then I saw that they said they check up on everyone and prosacute people who lie, what section would this be under, as its not an official goverment dockument, or is lying on any application form fruad?
