Patrick Vieira will play his last game for Arsenal this week and sign for Real Madrid in the summer for £30million.
Vieira has agreed personal terms with Real and after winning the FA Cup last weekend told a close friend that even adding the Premiership title would not influence his decision.

    haha!
    anyway thoughts on this??
i dont like the way real madrid just keep on buyin the best players

Ive been reading that same paragraph for two years. What makes it more true now?

Im not saying paddy wont leave, but ill wait till hes on the plane with a wad of dough in AW's 'unknown player fund' before i get upset about it. He will cost a fair amount more than Veron, thats for sure :)

It looks like if Patrick Vieira wants a move he'l succeed this time around coz that b//o;llox David Dein dont care about the future success of the club.He was quoted as saying "If Vieira fails to reach agreement then he will leave". I find it hard to believe he wants to move because he is worshipped by the fans and the players alike.Vieira because of his talent unites even the most predjudice of football fans + combined with the success he has had with the club one could not accuse him of being unloyal. Not alot of foreign players gives as much as 6 years with any club in a different part of the continent.I could name a few but besides the point i will be baffled if he leaves but not bitter, though i wouldnt leave the club who are set to clinch a second double during my time there.I mean i might not all be rosy at real madrid as he thinks it is.

I think a lot of the stuff written about Vieira has been proven to be rubbish.
He seems to be a player simply motivated to win trophies, whatever spin his agent puts on it.
If he does leave, I'll wish him all the best, its not like the Anelka situation a couple of years back.
It must be pretty hard to turn down Real Madrid. Its gonna be like a world XI by the end of the summer.
Raul, Carlos, Figo, Zidane + Vieira would be unstoppable.

And despite those formidable names, McManaman still frequently manages to get a place in the side. Why Sven thinks he's above picking him is anybody's guess. Almost as silly as RoI not picking Healy if you ask me...

yea, we have been hearing this for ages..

I was told it was a done deal for 57 million (dunno if thats euro or sterling or what) yesterday..

Im unsure as Real are in big money problems and already have a massive wage bill..

nah since arsenal have won the FA cup and unfortunately soon to win the league i think he will stay andhope arsenal build a better squad for the champions league as every year they seem to be getting closer and closer.

and i can remember him on an interview for sky sports saying why he prefers arsenal.
saying that with real it would not be much but with arsenal he would be remembered by most fans as a driving force behind their rise to victory.

Couldnt agree with your more Helen. Its beyond me why Sven doesnt like him. If viera was to move to real, it might be nice to get macca in a swop.

If Vieira does decide to go to madrid can anybody really blame him?
Arsenal are a good side, in England, but are not one of the global names in world football in the same way that Real, Utd or Byern Munich are, and never will be in my opinion!
What player would seriuosly turn down the chance to play in the same team as Figo and Zidane and have a genuine chance of winning the champions league each year.
So lay off the lad, hes only human after all......
    :-)

True, add the fact vieira and zidane are good friends though where a near from bankrupt real madrid get the money to buy the top players is well beyond me. If you ask me its a house of cards waiting to fall and all it takes is one terrible season to possibly do that. if anyone remembers 99/00 and the World club thing in Rio, Real lay 4th from bottom in the primera liga going into that tournament. Unbelievably they went on to finish fourth that year and win the champions league. but i will make my point that all it takes is one trophyless season and a few fresh emerging teams to dry their supporters appetite(they can get nasty when their team aint winning). it happened to barca after all. then when tourists and supporters alike are not flocking to the bernabeu. the madrid council review the situation and the may think of matters more important then keeping a mediocre club injected with cash. All of a sudden real find themselves in turmoil and the banks are closing in on them. Alas they have to sell their players to stay afloat and they may not get the kind of money they paid for zidane, figo, carlos as they are nearing the 30 mark.. CRISIS!!! alot of you may read this and think "Nah!!, it'll never happen"... i can only state that the law of averages begs to differ..

Real Mardid are no longer in crisis. They have almost wiped out their huge debt by selling the ground where their training facilitites were based to the city council for a huge amount.

Also most of the big transfers are not funded by the club. Real have a lot of wealthy supporters who are more than happy to contribute millions to the purchase of amount of a player just so they will be associated with bringing that player to the club and all the kudos that goes with it.
