When did Ireland last beat Germany or East/West Germany before that?

    Irelands record v Germany is
    P:14 W:5 D:2 L:7

    wins in 1936 1951 1956 1960 1994

not too bad I'm sure you'll agree

Not bad, though not very significant in terms of the current teams...

Well considering the last time we played them WAS 1994 then that's about as good as a formguide that you're going to get.

But if you look at their form ie humilation in Euro 2000, difficulty to qualify from a group containing Albania, Finland, Greece and England and their current defensive frailties .... give away the lead to Isreal, conceded two against USA, convincingly beaten at home by Argentina then you can see that we are hardly up against world beaters in this current Germany team.

For Germany that 5-1 thumping by Liverpool (!) was proberly the best thing that could have happened. The squad picked today by Rudi Voller including Michael Ballack, Carsten Ramelow, Bernd Schneider, Jens Jeremies, Dietmar Hamann, Miroslav Klose
and Oliver Neuville looks pretty good to me.

If England lose to Sweden their World Cup is over. Argentina will beat them which would then make the result against Nigeria academic! They will be out!
