The only thing that comes up when I go into "My Computer" is my network folder the 1/3 floppy(A:) drive and the Compact Disk (E:) drive. If I download anything to my network folder (incidentally its full name is *my student no.* then on 'Zeus\users\Year1999'(U:)) and try to run it all I get is a message saying "Sorry, you are not permitted to run programs from that location."

    Can anyone give any advice???

I use the computers in my university but don’t have one at home. To access the computers I have to put in a password and my student number. This gives me limited access to the computer. I can look up most sites on the net (no porn etc.) and can not download anything or install games etc. I was just wondering if anyone knew of a way I could install games on these computers? Id like to play Quake or CS over the net but can’t.

see if you can write to any folder on the hard drive, perhaps c:\temp. Otherwise see if you have a network drive. If you have somewhere to put the files, you can install small quake
    http://redbrick.dcu.ie/~doomgod/q.exe

this is only about 3 megs.

If you get a friend to zip up their installed half life folder, and put it on a cd, you should be able to copy that onto the machine, space permitting of course. If you are really stuck you could play quake from the cd, cs would be unplayable though I'd say.
