I don't know how feasible this is-cause I know nothing about vbulletin- is it possible to hack it so that a user can't post to a board unless they've read a particular sticky/announcement/faq pertaining to that board.. it may be helpful for some boards...
just a quick thought after a few nice pints..

Sounds like a good idea, if it were possible, especially for the more active boards (Ireland Off Line one springs to mind).

Seems like a good idea - espacially in a case where you don't want anyone to be able to say "oh, didn't see the rules"

I've seen it done on a few boards - I'll go and check if they're vbb.

well you can have it that when mem firsts enters forum to display in a pop up window the charter of the forum,

if you can know what forum a person is browsing maybe you can know a first or last time a mem enters that forum, a nicely put pop up screen could be a nice welcome to a paticular forum

btw i wonder what'll be said about bubbles to new members

Dear god don't make people read sticky threads or announcement threads I can see that becoming really annoying.

The info has to come from some where!

it'll be a stripped boards page with only charter info, a lot faster than displaying the whole boards accessed charter with reply and post and menu options

Not a bad idea at all, you'd need a very clever hack though.

I *HATE* popups. NEVER allow them on boards. Please. Ever.

Also, getting new members to view the stickies is fine, but what about the existing members of boards who are signing themselves in work/college (like me). Do we have to view all of these each time we log ourselves onto boards, or is it just something for a new account when it has been set up??

We have a Newbie FAQ board. What about directing new members there, putting the various board charters there (putting stickies on them) and directing them there. Otherwise we could set up a web page with boards charters (putting it in the boards.ie DHTML menu.
