Hello there chaps,

tis I back from the grave. I looked at quake.ie for the first
time there in ages and I see that they've given Zero,
Overlord and Bunny their own columns, to name a few.

Does Ronan still insult random strangers and 14 year olds?

Just wondering if you could let me know what the
current state of quakeish gaming is at the moment,
what game people are playing, who that I would
know from 4 years ago is still playing, what Leagues
are running, that kind of stuff. Thinking of buying myself
a PC over the summer so could be seeing you all soon enough.

Could you copy any answers on this board to dermot@XXremoveXthisXXbluetree.ie as I
might be a few years older but im still a lazy bastard
and probably wont be back here to check until the
message is lost in a pile of random posts about llamas or
whatever it is is the cool not cool stuff nowadays.

I guess its a long shot but does anyone play quake
anymore? Would you believe I havnt seen Quake 3
except for the pre release beta whenever that was
released back in the mists of time, so the only contact
Ive had with quake like games since I quit a few years
ago is the consultant in the office that plays Wolf3 for
£50 an hour the bastard. He says its fun but then he
would, wouldnt he.

Ya, the "in" thing atm seems to be QW and Q3 among quakers and CS seems to be popular with the 14 year olds that Ronan likes to annoy plus a few other wankers.

anyway, theres a fair few people playing quakeworld, I'm sure they'll post here. Theres more still playing quake3, though they would be greatly outnumbered by the cs muppets these days. Though it had its death proclaimed years ago, quakeworld is still alive in Ireland.

Hi!

I said it would be a while before I was back to check
the replies, and I keep my word, god-damnit!

Possible good news for the Guns Islanders is that
I have just ordered myself a spanking new PC that
should zip along on the latest software and as an
added bonus I'll be able to use it as a space heater
for my room.

Also possibly good news is just today I got an email
from GI-Meridian in the states, who has recently
re-installed Quake after 2 1/2 years. Also, he has
now gone DSL so he won't be stuck on 800-900
pings like back in the original IQCL days. (And we
still only lost to those cheatin' bastards Zero and
Overlord by about 2 frags if I remember)


Ah my, those scandal-ridden days of yore.
So did that ever come out, or is it like Deep Throat
where we all agree to take the conspiracy to our
graves?

..braincell beat the sh1t out of ye if i remember correctly. And no, it didnt come out, we still deny it.

Would be very cool if GI came back. Put some more life back in Irish Quake.
