    Simple question!

Should Croke Park be used for playing soccer!!

Personally i think not!!! I think the government should start spending money a bit wiser when it comes to sport! We shouldn't be givin so much to GAA as they have loads of money! Building and renovating stadiums all over the gaf!!

They should now start the infux of funding into soccer! Soccer is boomin in Ireland at the moment! We even have one of the strongest soccer squads we have had in years! Now is the time to fund the development of soccer

yes it should be used for other sports, why not? i've never actually heard a valid reason put forward as to why soccer and rugby are banned from croker.

Kildare for Sam, by the way.

the government are a laughing stock if they think they can afford to build berties bowl when there is people being treated in hospital corridors and young offenders and prisoners like those yobbos who crashed into the garda 10 or so days ago are left to roam the streets till their court case coz we havent got the room in our detention centres and prisons. I dont think we are ready to host a tournament of any sort. though i think more custard pies should be ordered.

    no, wise up...
because at this minute in time the Ireland needs a new ground which is not Croke park. Most other international teams have (/are getting) a new ground.

Exactly. The FAI need to build their OWN ground. not be shafted by the Governmet or the GAA.
Unfortunately, with the lack of leadership and competence within the FAI, this will not happen anytime soon.

Maybe if the FAI or the IRFU actually asked the GAA if they could use the Croker, I'm sure the GAA might accept. The FAI seem to wan't it handed to them on a plate. I don't think that the FAI know what the word "negotiation" means. Instead they go to the press and say "we could hold Euro 2008, if we get to play in Croke Park". This probably put off the GAA from actually voting for foreign sports being played in the Croker because of FAI's indirect approach...

    What do you think?

    i agree.....

I would like to see croke park being used for euro 2008, and euro 2008 only....

Ireland still need a new ground.

I also reckon that Ireland do need a national stadium and would like to see Bertie's bowl go ahead though this is in balance. I do think that Croke Park should have been used for Euro 2008 if nothing else.

Croke Park shouldn't be used on the basis that it doesnt meet the standards required of what a modern day stadium should meet if we are talking about International matches.
Coming from New Zealand, we were in a similar position 10 years ago and 2 new stadiums were built in Auckland to meet the requirements for hosting such events as Commenwealth games/Youth World Soccer Cup among others.
The Irish government, big businesses have to accept (without disrespect) that Ireland will remain a laughing stock, amongst sporting peers, and never be considered as a serious contender for hosting major sporting events unless fingers are pulled out, and acceptable facilities are built.
That said I understand there is confidence in securing a bid for 2008 European Cup co-hosting with Scotland on the basis of a new Stadium having been built.
