What do ye think of the "official world cup song" Here come the good times, as penned by the listeners of the Ray Darcy show on Today FM.

    I think it's cringe-ingly embarrassingly bad!

It's dredful the worst yet the sultans of ping song I cant think of the name of it but includes the lines"give him a ball and a yard of grass and he'll deliver a perfect pass" would have been much better altough it was origonaly about nigel clough im sure it could be tailored to fet keano

"Here comes the good times" was originally by A-House and this current version keeps the chorus but changes the verses for the event that's in it. Apparently the lead singer of A-House agreed to sing the chorus for this version but not the versus because he thought the new lyrics were so crap ... read into that what you will.

"Give em a ball etc" is a great song but it just wouldn't work as a world cup song. For one thing the song would have to focus on the "TEAM" and secondly BallOfGrass has tempo changes which most terrace-morons can't grasp with their pea sized brains.

    >>most terrace-morons don't like that.

Care to explain? Are the people who stand on terraces every week and sing for their team the dumb "morons", and the people who go down the pub to watch Uni'eh the clever ones? Which are more valuable to their team? Fùck sake, I knew Irish Premiership fans were not exactly experts on terrace culture, but I didn't think atmosphere at LIVE games was that alien a concept that all match-going fans were morons. I think the moron here is the person who actually expects football fans to go to games and sing the latest money-making venture with fùcking boyband tunes that is cashing in on the World Cup. If you went to games you would know that what is sung on the terraces is not exactly what you will hear on the radio.

Eh settle down Bateman. I do actually go to E.L. games but it still doesn't change my opinion that most people I meet at matches are morons.

Well then, assuming you have friends, ask them to go with you. If your team's ground has a bar, going for a cùpla piontaì before and after is a great idea at the weekend, especially now, during the summer. If you are someone who likes to sit down and watch the game, then fine, but people who sing etc etc at games are not morons. If most of the people you "meet" at games are morons, then treat the game as less of a social scene, and more as an opportunity to support your team... :)

I prefer 442 and World Soccer you muppet.
Anyway this started when someone implied that terrace dwellers are all morons and wouldn't have the singing skills to pick up on this Today FM masterpiece. Have a go at me if you like, but if you haven't got the intelligence to contribute to the discussion then leave it out.

Stop turning EVERY BLOODY THREAD into a LoI Vs Premiership rant please.

Yes, the song is dreadful, but thats what you get when you allow the great unwashed input into anything :)

[Note for bateman: the preceding statement is a piece of light hearted humour. It does not pertain to league of ireland fans, Premiership fans, Serie A fans or indeed J League fans.]

My main point in response was that people who call themselves fans are out of touch with football terrace culture (and I am not talking about violence), regardless of which country we take to be the handiest for live football (attending games).

I only heard the FM 104 "Keano" song today and thougt it was better than other crappy ones.
And as far as i know only 1 song has ever been released and sang "as is" on the terraces baddiel and Skinner one.
but then when the words were changed slightly it sounded better.
    Anyone know another?
