I think there is a time and a place for most things.

Sport has a place in our society. So does Hospitals and Roads etc, and I'm not advocating we should cut back on supporting these.

But other funds possibly from the national lottery should be made available so that we have centres of excellence for most possible sports.

Hence i'd like to see a decent size stadium (min 50,000) with an athletics track that would be available to all sports in there turn.

Yeah a joke. Why not give the money to sporting organisations to let them improve their own facilities? A personal legacy thats all it is. This government did everything it could to scupper the FAI owning their own ground, and now they face a project that might not be financially viable. Sad really.

It should go ahead but only if its done right. Since this country doesn't have any great tradition in Athletics I'd reccomend that a running track not be included. If it has to be there then there should be stands that can slide over the pitch for Football Rugby (similar to Stade de France(?) and the proposed New-Wembley).

Also it should have a retractable roof similar to Cardiff Arms Park. We have a climate that would make ample use of the facility.

Finally the capasity should be limited to around 60,000 as anything less would be a waste of time and anything more would make the Stadium difficult to fill for less glamourous international games. There's nothing worse than looking at (or being in) a half filled stadium! :(

Hmm, and thats about it :)

It should go ahead. We still do not have a stadium to be proud of. Come on Lansdown Rd. is not a pitch but a field...i'm surprised farmers dont come up and feed there pigs and cows whats left of the grass there.

It needs to have an Athletics track to
    1) Be avelable to every sport
    2) Expand Athletics as a sport in Ireland
    3) Host an Athletics championship in Ireland

A NATIONAL stadium has to have an Athletics track aswell as soccar pitches etc.

Pity we still cant play football is Croke Park
